(No Mercy)
The premium live event for tonight lived up to its name literally as all of the matches have ended in chaos immediately after the pinfall victory. Drew McIntyre has officially earned his date with Roman Reigns at SummerSlam after defeating Cody Rhodes, but the chaos continued as Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa ambushed the Scotsman, yet the odds evened as LA Knight and Jey Uso aided McIntyre. Rhodes didn't take his loss too well as he brawled with Drew.
As for the Women's Championship, Cora did win the match, but it was by disqualification due to interference from Damage CTRL, and by ruling, championship titles can't change hands by count out or disqualification. A brawl exploded between Damage CTRL and the House of Bliss, and once again, the Queen Charlotte Flair showed herself as she took down Bayley with a boot, making her intentions clear that she is not finished hunting for Asuka and her title.
Now, it was the main event, round 2 between mentor and student as Alex defends his WWE Championship against Randy in a casket match, and the only way to win is to put your opponent inside a casket and seal the lid shut.
The official casket that will be used in the match is the same exact style that was used back in 2005 in another casket match between a young Randy Orton and the legendary Undertaker.
Randy made his sadistic, cold entrance as he slowly walked down the ramp and taking a good look at the casket while he placed his hand on it, recalling the sick memories of his match against the Deadman. Then the current WWE Champion made his entrance, but his title not draped over his shoulder, as Alex walked out to the stage, his eyes were on the casket and Orton, reminding everyone that it wasn't about the title, it's all about kicking his mentor's ass. Alex marched down the ramp, handed the title to the referee and slid in the ring to trade punches with the Viper as the opening bell rang, officially beginning the casket match.
In a casket match, anything goes, the two men can fight in and out of the ring, recalling their first meeting at Backlash, in which the result of the match was a double count out due to the intensity and hatred between the two men. The match immediately spilled to the outside as Alex slammed Orton's face on the announcer's table, fazing the Viper; then he threw the Viper to the steel steps shoulder first. The champion went under the ring and pulled out a steel chair. Alex measured for a Con-chair-to with the steps, but Orton ducked out just in time and got on the offense as he kicked Alex in the gut, then dropping him on the announcer's table with his signature belly to back suplex.
Orton got a handful of Alex's hair as he climbed on the table and pulled his protegee to his feet; he went for the RKO, but Alex blocked and countered with the AKO, breaking the table and sending both men through the pile of furniture. Alex dragged Orton back in the ring and called for the casket to be opened, the referees opened it as the Pharaoh rolled Orton to the casket, but the Viper showed signs of life as he connected punches to the Pharaoh before poking his eyes, stunning the champion.
Orton stalked his prey while Alex nursed his eye; then the Viper got the champion in position and nails the Pharaoh with his vintage hanging DDT. Randy went to that place again as he measured for an RKO, waiting for Alex to get back up; as Alex was on his feet and was coming to his senses, Orton went for the RKO, but Auditore countered again as he grabbed Randy's wrist and takes him down with the Rainmaker. Creating space, Alex rolled out of the ring to grab anything he can use to neutralize the Viper. Checking under, Alex found and grabbed a steel shovel, feeling the metal part of the spade, the Pharaoh got back in the ring and measured the Viper.
As Orton turned around, the Viper ducked the incoming swing from the champion and finally hits the RKO on the WWE Champion. Randy called for the casket to be opened as he rolled his former student inside; with his hand on the lid, Randy attempted to seal the casket shut, but Alex's hand stopped it from happening as the Pharaoh got back up and grabbed his former mentor by the throat.
Alex: if I'm going to hell, you're coming with me!
He then pulled the Viper to the casket and connected blows as both men are standing in the casket. Alex fazed Randy by slamming his head on the apron as the Viper slid in the ring to try and create some space. The champion pursued the Viper and got him on his shoulders for a One-Winged Angel, but the Viper fought out of it with punches and tries for another RKO, but Alex blocked and pushed Orton to the ropes, then hits him with a Sister Abigail, paying tribute to the late Bray Wyatt.
Feeling fatigue, Alex called for the casket to be opened and used all of his strength to roll Orton's 250 pound frame into it, but then he was ambushed with a shovel to the back by the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. Cody swung the shovel to Alex's gut before nailing him the Cross Rhodes. Cody helped Orton to his feet, telling his leader to finish it. Legacy rolled Alex's body to the open casket, but they were interrupted by the theme of the Scottish Warrior. Orton and Rhodes were waiting for the Scotsman to come down, but McIntyre got in the ring and was behind them. Legacy slowly turned around and were both nailed with a Double Claymore from McIntyre.
Drew dragged Cody out of the ring and continued their fight from earlier as they take their brawl through the crowd.
(Time skip to the finish)
Alex went for the One-Winged Angel again, but Orton pressed his fingers on Alex's eyes, forcing him to break the hold and hits one more RKO on the champion. Then Randy had an ace up his sleeve of defeating his former student. The Viper went to the turnbuckles and measured the champion; as Alex was on his knees, the Viper lunged and hits the punt kick on the Pharaoh.
Randy smirked and called for the lid to be opened as he used all his strength to roll the Pharaoh into the casket. Orton grabbed onto the lid and savored the moment as he shut the lid and sealed the casket, officially ending the match and awarding the Viper his 15th World Title.
However, the Viper had some ill intentions as he pushed the sealed casket to the stage. Orton went and grabbed a gasoline can and spilled the flammable liquid on the sarcophagus. Then the new WWE Champion grabbed a match and lit it, setting the sealed coffin on fire.
The show ended with the Viper raising the WWE title as he looks on at the burning sarcophagus. However, the Viper remembered Alex's words, in which he dares his former mentor to send him to the afterlife, not knowing that Randy Orton has awaken something inside the now former WWE Champion.
