Four years.
Living four years of constant abuse… and no one knows.
If I speak up, he’d hurt the only parent I have left. And who knows if he’d hurt Cj too. I can’t risk it. I can’t risk their lives over my sufferings… I can only hope and pray, to the Moon Goddess, to find my mate soon.
I’ll be sixteen in three months, then I’ll be able to identify my mate. So, I can finally get out of this house… But, will he even want me after hearing about my past?
I’m Caylee, by the way. Cay for short, that’s what all my close friends and family call me. I’m fifteen years old. I’ll be sixteen in three months. And hopefully lucky enough to find my mate. I shifted at the age of eleven, which is an early age for shifting. Being a girl makes it even more shocking to shift that early.
My mother and father were a Beta couple. Dad was always with the Alpha and mom was a nurse at the pack hospital. All up until my father died five years ago. Cj is next in line to be Beta, when Jay takes his position as Alpha. So for now mom is the female Beta of the pack. And she still works at pack hospital some nights.
She remarried… A few days before my eleventh birthday. And that’s when my life became a nightmare.
In the beginning, it was all nice… Mom was happy. But, as time went on, things began to change… But the thing is, nothing changed for anyone else. Just me, once I shifted for the first time. My life took a complete twist…
I love my family and my friends. But this is something I can’t risk telling anyone… There are lives at stake for it, so I’d rather it be mine than theirs. No one knows what my nights consist of with Robert. The things he continues to do to me. Then, he simply lives every day as if he doesn’t.
Oh… did I mention how much I fear the dark? All because of him…
Because everything he chose to do, he made sure it was done in the dark. Nothing but darkness, so he couldn’t see my tears…
