The weeks continued on as normal and before we had even realized it, we were travelling to Lyon to play in the final game of the 2021 calendar year. It was the last group game of the Champions League, and we knew it would be a tough one.

As we traveled across the continent, an alert hit up on my phone.

Breaking News: Tippah Jones set to miss FINAL BIG CLASH against Wolfsburg.

"Oh wow, have you seen this?" I asked, turning the phone to Jill. Lena was asleep next to me, her head resting against the window.

"No. That changes a lot." I nodded my head in agreement.

"Is she alright?" I soon asked, gesturing over to Elke who sat at the front of the plane. Jill didn't say anything at first, holding the truth close to her heart.

"Um, yeah she's alright." Just by looking at her, I could tell that Elke did not want to be here. There was something about Lyon that threw her.

We soon arrived at the ground, and we all headed into the changing room. I sat beside Lena, an airpod in each of our ears.

"This is the worst hype music I've ever heard," I said to Lena, laughing as she danced softly to the song.

"It's good!" she exclaimed.

"No, it's not."

I soon looked over to Jill, who was sitting beside Elke on the treatment table, seemingly getting no treatment whatsoever. There was a nervous energy that transcended them both, and I felt it radiate onto me.

"What do you think is happening?" I asked Lena.

"With what?" she asked.

"She looks nervous?"

"She's just getting treatment," Lena responded, and that's when I realized. They were still a secret. I couldn't just speak of them casually like I was without people finding out.

"Oh yeah. Of course."

We soon headed out onto the pitch to get warmed up. It was a cold evening in Lyon, and if I could have worn a coat while playing, I would've. The rain was a drizzle, but it was there, making the wind feel like ice, and the grass close to snow.

We saw the Lyon team, on the other side of the pitch, and after a few squinted eyes, I saw her.

"DVD!" I exclaimed, running over to my Dutch teammate.

"Oh my god, is that Missy Milly?" I laughed, picking up my small friend and hugging her.

"Long time no see." She smiled, nodding at me as she also reached over to give Jill and Lynn a hug also. "How is everything?"

"Things are... good. I think."

"You think?" I questioned. I saw her eyes peer over to her team, before returning to me.

"Somethings are a tad weird."

"How so?"

"I forgot how nosy you were!" DVD laughed. I gave her a nudge before we started to walk up and down the middle of the pitch. "I broke up with Beth."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Yeah, it's been... weird."

"Was it the distance?" I asked.

"Yes and no. I just don't think I saw forever."

"Do you think you will ever see forever?"

"Maybe. But what about you?"

"What about me?" I asked.

"Anything interesting?" I laughed before looking over at her. To Lena. Our eyes caught before I looked back down to DVD.

"Daan, life is so weird at the moment."

"Tell me about it." She soon walked back over to her team, and I went to Jill and Lynn who were chatting away just as usual.
