Even though Brooklyn had been staying with Robbins, he still liked to go out at least every couple of nights to get some air under his wings. As much as he wanted to help people, he just couldn't be fighting right now. He only went out to glide and do fun things, like go to the movies, grab some pretzels, or hot dogs, or just to simply see the city.

It got to be lonely though while doing these things. He had to enjoy them alone. At least even back home, Lexington would still hang out with him sometimes. Now he didn't have anyone in his clan to hang with. Of course, he had the babies inside him. That thought cheered him up. But then, he thought about the two kids he had befriended a couple years ago. It had been a while since he had checked in with them. Dave and Bobbi Porter.

On his rounds one night, Brooklyn flew to the house where his two young friends lived. He landed on the roof of their house. It was still early enough that they weren't in bed yet. He saw Dave in his room. He tapped on the window. Dave had been reading a comic book. Then he looked at the source of tapping and he saw a familiar red gargoyle at his window.

"Brooklyn?" he gasped in surprise. The boy got up and went to open his window.

Brooklyn stepped back to give his friend some space. Dave came outside to see him. "Hey, Brooklyn, what's up?" Dave greeted.

"Hey, I was just in the neighborhood. How are you and Bobbi doing?" Brook asked.

"We're fine. Busy with school and everything. Your clan is looking for you. They stop by every so often to ask if we've seen you." Dave explained.

"I'm fine, Dave, but I can't go home right now. I'll go home when I'm ready. But I had to leave them this time because they were threatening something very dear to me, and I couldn't let them do what they wanted to." Brooklyn explained his side.

"What is it?" Dave asked. "Maybe I can help."

Brooklyn didn't know if the boy would understand his condition. He wanted to tell him, but he was still going to hide it for now. "No, I'm sorry, Dave. No one can help me with this situation. I just wanted to check in with you to see how you were. Tell Bobbi I came by to say hello, and I might stop by again soon."

The red gargoyle then turned sadly and jumped off the roof to take to the air again. He felt too ashamed to tell Dave about the pregnancy.

"Why can't I tell him about this?" Brooklyn asked himself.

Dave was left on the roof shocked at what Brooklyn had said to him. What was wrong that he couldn't help with?

.............

Brooklyn returned to Robbins' house for the night and read some more about pregnancy for a bit before watching a movie before sunrise.

The next night, Robbins had to go to a special meeting for blind people and Brooklyn was left in charge of taking care of Gilly while he was gone. He would gone for twenty-four hours.

"Well, looks like it's just you and me tonight, ol' girl." Brooklyn smiled at the dog. She whined up at him and licked his hand. It made him giggle.

He was sitting at the kitchen table with Gilly just waiting on him. Then Gilly laid her head on his lap for a moment, and he petted her head. Gilly also smelled his scent, and she licked the swelling in his belly. It was like she knew what was going on in there.

"You know I have babies in there?" he asked. The dog just looked up at him with soft eyes. Gilly really reminded him of Bronx. "I want to go home so badly, but I can't."

Brooklyn got himself something to eat before deciding to go watch tv and got her some food too. He had a bowl of spaghetti and a candy bar for dessert. Probably not the best food in the world but it would suffice.

Later in the night, he took Gilly on a walk outside along the beach. It was always nice to walk her. He made sure to not be seen by humans. Then he also played a game of frisbee with her. It was a rare night to just relax. Brooklyn wasn't going to leave the house tonight. It was a nice night to just hang with Gilly.

Robbins and his driver were home the next day while Brooklyn slept.

.............

A couple more weeks passed, and Brooklyn started feeling some butterflies in his stomach. His belly had gotten a little bigger too. It was very clear to the world that he was carrying babies. He could feel their weights inside him. Their movements weren't really strong, but he could feel them.

Brooklyn wanted to wait till he was at least seven months along before he returned to the clan. Here he was only in his fourth month. It still seemed like a long way off yet, but he wanted to be sure that his clan knew that he wasn't aborting them.

The very thought of the abortion made tears come to his eyes. Despite his clan wanting new members, why had they even agreed for him to have one? Just because I'm a male, that's why! He thought sadly. Brooklyn didn't know how he was able to carry his little ones, but he wasn't giving up on them no matter what.

On his next exam with Dr. Sato, he said, "Doc, can you search for anything inside me that says how I'm able to carry the babies? I know this isn't natural, but I have to know." Brooklyn stated.

"Sure, Brooklyn." Sato agreed. As he did the ultrasound, he saw the twins in their womb and they seemed just fine, just growing normally. But as Sato was looking at just under the skin area, Sato saw something that suggested the womb didn't belong there but was attached by some artificial help.

"It looks like the womb they are growing in is attached by something artificial." Sato declared. "But I can't do anything about it right now. We'll worry about it when it's time to deliver your twins. You really shouldn't be on your own Brooklyn during this time. You need your clan's protection."

"I'm not alone. I'm staying with a friend. I'll go home in a couple months. I just want to get the twins past the most crucial time period." Brooklyn replied.

"It's understandable." Sato said.

"You haven't told them you've seen me, have you?"

"No."

"Good." Brook sighed in relief. He left the hospital with a new sonogram picture.

As Brooklyn was leaving the hospital window, he was spotted. It was one of the Illuminati doctor's men. This was rich! Likely it was the pregnant male that had escaped their grasp somehow.

He called his boss. "I think I found the pregnant gargoyle that got away from us, Sir."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Then get a team together and monitor the hospital, no matter how long it takes to get him back! I want that gargoyle to know if I got my results." The doc exclaimed. He had been anxious ever since to know if his results were working out in one or both babies.

The man got a team together and they steaked out an area around the hospital. No matter how long it took, they would get him back.
