Brook and Jayden gave the twins to Lex and Hudson tonight to watch while they were gone. If there was a chance that Jayden's parents got to meet Brooklyn tonight, he didn't want his kids in harm's way or anything before he knew it was safe for them.
Brooklyn led Jayden to Elisa's apartment. Elisa was waiting for them. They climbed through her window in the living room.
"With visitors like us, it's good you live on the top floor." Jayden chuckled.
"Yeah, it is." Elisa smiled. So did Brook.
"Glad you brought her over, Brooklyn, but you better get out of sight, just in case." Elisa said.
"I want to be here in case my help is needed." Brook declared.
"Alright. My bedroom." Elisa agreed. "When they get here."
Brooklyn kissed Jayden on the forehead for good luck. He waited there for Jayden's parents to arrive. It was nerve racking. Jayden hoped her parents would find the right address.
A little bit later, there was a knock on the door. It made them all jump but it was Brooklyn's cue to go to the bedroom. He shut the door but left it open a crack.
Elisa said to Jayden, "Take a deep breath and remain calm. It's them."
Jayden nodded and took that deep breath as Elisa went to go answer the door. She had her wings folded over her shoulders so she wouldn't seem as frightening in her new appearance to her parents.
When Elisa opened the door, Gloria and Joshua Wilkinson came inside the apartment. They were wary of what they would see. Brooklyn watched from inside the bedroom.
"Now remember, she's still Jayden on the inside." Elisa said.
The couple saw a figure with yellowish looks, a beak, blonde hair, and greenish wings in the middle of the apartment. The wings were folded over.
"Mom, Dad." Jayden said gently. "It's me even though I know my appearance has changed."
Gloria started crying but she gladly went down to hug her daughter after so long. Joshua followed her. They all met in a great big family hug.
"We missed you!" Joshua exclaimed. He too was now crying in pure happiness.
"I really missed you too." Jayden declared sadly.
They continued hugging for a long while. Brooklyn smiled that it was a good family reunion. He was happy for her. It made him think of how much he missed his moms and dads too. But they were all dead and not coming back. Jayden was lucky.
"So, where have you been all this time? How are you doing?" Joshua asked Jayden.
"We heard you were with gargoyles or that they saved you." Gloria said.
"Yeah, it's true." Jayden replied.
"And how are they personally?" Joshua asked.
"The gargoyles are nothing like what the Quarrymen think they are. They are far more civilized than most humans we know. They were all kind, caring, and compassionate towards me." Jayden explained.
Brooklyn liked hearing that. He smiled.
"Any one of them in particular that struck your fancy?" Gloria asked.
"Yes, there was one in fact, though I like them all." Jayden replied to her mom's question. "It was a red one called Brooklyn."
"So, I assume you were close with her?" Joshua asked.
"Brooklyn is a boy, Dad." Jayden corrected him.
"Oh. Sorry." Joshua apologized.
Brooklyn couldn't help but giggle softly.
