27. Mingyu

I'm doing exactly what I told Hwa not to do. I'm avoiding her.

I felt horrible about it, but I just needed to make it to Saturday and give the mystery girl the ick to get the hell out of a marriage.

"For Christs' sake, Mingyu just tell her!" Joshua was visibly frustrated.

"I can't! You heard her speech the other day! This will crush her!"

I ran a hand through my hair in frustration.

"So you'll just ignore her after that beautiful speech and sculpture? Asshat move Gyu" he got up, "Cina says Hwa's a mess trying to figure out what's wrong, she thinks the speech scared you off" he left me.

I screamed, passers-by stared at me.

If she's hurt, she'll look for comfort somewhere else Gyu

The voice in my head was right.

Me: you free tonight?
Stalker💍: no, sorry.

Yup, she's hurt.

Me: Baby please let me take you out
Stalker💍: can't. I have plans.

Oh, I messed up big time.

Maybe Cina can help?

Me: hey, I need help
Cina: piss off asshole.

I march to the art campus determined to see Hwa.

"Looking for someone?" I familiar voice asked, I rolled my eyes.

"You know who I'm looking for Kang" I spat.

"Ah, trouble in paradise? I told Hwa I'm better than you, but she insisted that you're perfect." Song Kang leaned on Hwa's desk.

"Just tell me where she is"

He laughed arrogantly. "Why would I do that? You're the competition and with the way Hwa cried because you keep ignoring her calls and messages... I think I have a shot now" he winked and left the studio.

I made her cry, that wasn't my intention.

"Does anyone know where Hwa is?" None of the faces here were familiar.

A short, pale guy spoke up "They're done for the year, she's probably at home, they only come in if we ask for help" he glared at me.

Does the entire art department hate me?

"Thanks," I looked at his painting "WOOZI."

On the way to Hwa's apartment, I stopped and got her favorite chicken gimbap from a takeaway down the road.

Okay, just breathe everything's fine.

I knocked on the door, Cina opened.

"Hwa's not here" She closed the door.

I knocked again

"I said she's not here, go away you asshole" Cina slammed the door in my face.

You deserved that

Even my thoughts aren't on my side.

I banged on the door, Cina came out.

"Listen here MINGYU! I don't know what's going on with you, but Joshua and I planned everything perfectly for you and Hwa to have the night alone together" she prodded my chest "But my baby phoned me in tears because you seemed uncomfortable with her after the auction and just ran off!"

She glared at me.

"Cina I-"

She shushed me, "I'm not done! Do you know how hard she worked on that speech? How nervous she was to say it not only to you but to all those people??? DO YOU NOT REALISE HOW MUCH SHE LOVES YOU!? She's going against her fath-" she stopped. "Listen, just go home and study you can see her on Monday" she sighed and went back into the apartment.
