Chapter 25

Sophia's POV

I awoke to find myself riding a galloping horse. The sound of hoofbeats was thudding against the ground in a steady rhythm. The sky was a mid hue of red; signaling it was evening. The car was wrecked, and it was undrivable. We had no choice but to take the horse of one of the guards, who had unfortunately lost his life in the battle.

My cheeks were pressed against someone's back, it was Blake. My hands were wrapped around his waist tightly, making me blush slightly. I must have fallen asleep.

We were heading towards the cliffs, it was a more dangerous way because of bandits and thieves but it was a short cut to the Vampire Kingdom. If we took the normal route through the city it would take about three days.

I loosened my grip on Blake, signaling to him i was awake.

"The Queen has awoken?" He teased.

"Yes i apologize for falling asleep on you."

Before i could ask more questions, it started to rain heavily. Blake took off his coat, and passed it to me, but i shook my head, trying to give it back to him.

"Wear it, you'll catch a cold." He said, as he looked around for shelter. It was dangerous to ride in the rain.

"It's okay, you wear it or you may catch a cold too." I argued, hating the drenched feeling of wet clothes.

"Don't worry." I sighed, not wanting to argue with him further, as i put on his coat.

We found a cave deeper into the cliffs. We left the horse at the cave entrance, it was totally dark in the cave, i couldn't see anything. Fear suddenly filled my body, as the sound of the heavy rain started drowning my thoughts.

"Blake.. Where is this place?" I asked, it was dark, i couldn't see anything. I was holding onto his hand tightly, i was scared of letting go.

"Don't worry; it's the path i usually take to pass through the two kingdoms." He said.

Suddenly, I couldn't feel Blake's grasp anymore, it was deadly silent, i could only hear my heart thudding wildly against my chest.

"Blake?..." I asked, cautiously taking a step forward.

"Blake?! This isn't funny." I said, panicking until i stepped on something wet. I bent down to touch it, and to my horror, the metallic smell of blood filled my nose.

Suddenly, someone grabbed my shirt from behind and covered my mouth tightly, choking me until i couldn't breathe and i fell into darkness.

"Blake..." I trembled, instantly grabbing onto his arm tightly. I was scared of the dark, I never knew why i was until i remembered... I remembered how I lost Blake the day we tried to run away together.

Blake looked at me, his face showing much concern.

"What do you remember?" He asked.

"I remember we have been here before, the day.. the day we planned on running away together."

Blake took in a sharp breath,

"Is that all you remember?" He asked rather hurriedly and i felt confused at his behavior.

"No, i only remember until the part where i lost you." I said, and Blake visibly relaxed.
