I was only five years old when it happened... They day my father left on the Queen's Gambit with my grandfather, Robert, on a trip to the North China Sea. When he was leaving, I ran up-to him on the docks crying out "Daddy, why do you have to leave me?" My sad little face looking up at him. In my mind, I didn't want him to leave. "It will only be for a few days Sweetheart, then you will have me all the time when I'm home, got it?" He have a promising smile, hoping to cheer me up. Oliver picked my up and gave me one last hug before Moira takes me into her arms and puts me in the limousine. I slowly fell asleep in my booster seat after The Queen's Gambit had departed from Starling City Bay.

After waking up in the mansion, Moira told me that she had received news that the Gambit went down, with my father and grandfather now being dead. As a child, that struck me hard especially during school. Each day was a constant reminder that my father was 'dead' with my peers asking where he is and saying 'oh he's at the bottom of the ocean'. It was the same thing every day, for the next five years.

Year: 2010

During the five years, year three of my fathers supposed death, I was up one night after hearing a strange noise from downstairs. I got up from my bed and left my room, heading down the large corridor to the main stairwell, leading to the front door. I headed into the living room, only to see someone holding a tablet and watching a video. I saw the man react to what the video had told him and in hearing the name being said from the video, that being my fathers name, I grew to the sudden conclusion that he was in fact alive and he sat right in front of me, visibly alive.

I had stood there in shock and disbelief seeing the man in the family living room, to be my not so dead father. I wanted to run up to him and cry in his arms that I missed him so much and to please come back but a part of me held myself back from wanting to. After Oliver puts the tablet down, he sighs and looked in my direction. He saw me, he saw his little girl for the first time, ever so close, he made the hush signal to me to keep quiet about seeing him. My heart jumped with pure excitement that he saw me and I saw him. We both locked gazes at each other before he stands up. He walks up to me and stops in the doorway and knelt down to me and whispered "I'll be back again one day kiddo, and I'm sorry for not living up to my promise I made you" his voice started to tremble as he was near the point of wanting to break down and take me in his arms and hug me tight. But he whispers again "I have to go and stop a dangerous women now. I will see you again, one day but I do ask that you keep quite, you promise?" I nodded in agreement, wanting to hug him so bad as he was in arms length of me. He looks at me one more time before he spoke. "When I come back, I will explain everything to you, I promise, for real this time" he smiled a bit assuring me that he will live up-to this promise. He stood up and left out the front door of the mansion, as silent as a ninja was in the dark, starry night.

After he left, Moira walks up behind me and picks me up in her arms, a bit worried "Why are you up so late?" I wanted to tell her the truth that I saw my father right in front of me, but, knowing that I had no proof, I had to come up with an excuse "Uhhh, I heard a noise from down here and I wanted to see what it was" I lied. "Well, would warm milk and cookies put you back to sleep?" She asked as she looked at me as I yawned, laying my head on her shoulder as she held me in her arms. I nodded as it sounded like a good way to end the night, some nice warm milk and some delicious chocolate chip cookies to settle the excitement I had. After I was tucked in bed and drank the milk and had my cookies, I slowly fell asleep, thinking about my father and dreaming of seeing him again someday.
