Yuzuru started going to most of her treatments and truth be told, she was getting used to being in that chair.

After carefully questioning her medical team, she was allowed to go with him to Hachinohe and hopefully watch the show from the backstage as long as she was careful to avoid infections and took things slowly.

Emma took the news with joy. All she wanted was to live a resemblance of a normal life and watching him skate in his show was part of that.

She even took the travel opportunity to get dressed in something other than sports clothes for the first time in months.

Getting dressed up and putting on a bit of makeup was one of those things that made her day just a little bit better. She looked a bit more human.

Yuzuru entered their shared room to find her applying lipstick and wrapped his hands around her almost right away.

"You look beautiful."

The smile that he received in return was beautiful. Yuzu barely remembered seeing her smile so widely in the last months so seeing her happy gave him this sense of satisfaction of being able to make her feel like that again.

"Thank you, Zu. I felt like dressing up today."

"It was a good choice. You need me to do anything?"

"Hum... I couldn't take my suitcase out of the closet. I tried... but it's a bit heavy."

Emma seemed just a little uncertain to ask something so menial but he was having none of it.

"You should have just asked me. You know I don't mind helping you."

He went straight to the closet and got the suitcase in no time.

If this had been when her treatments first started, Emma would've been frustrated that she couldn't do these things but now she knew that she had to be easy on herself.

"Thank you, Yuzu."

"Anything else?"

"No, I just have to pack"

He kissed her lips softly and helped her through the process. Yuzuru knew better than to just step in and do things for her, but he also knew that more often than not, Emma wouldn't ask for things due to being embarrassed about her weakness.

You could never take the soldier out of the military after all.

Taking double the time to do the trip to Hachinohe by car was something that didn't even bother Yuzuru when he knew this assured her safety.

He had already been a bit paranoid over disinfecting things and being careful with possible infections before Emma started Chemo but now? Now he was even crazier than she was.

Just the idea of placing her weak immune system in a train station full of people scared him to death.

Surely, having her on the venue of the show was similar but he could at least control where she was and who was around her.

For some, this would definitely be overprotectiveness but neither of them wanted to risk anything when it came to her weak health.

This amount of care was nothing new for him.

When Covid started, he had been equally scared to go to competitions because of his Asthma, and truth be told, he wasn't even surprised that a few people called him crazy just because of how many safety measures he took.

He would rather be crazy than sick.

Even the hotel in Hachinohe had been carefully selected and warned to make sure everything was safe for her arrival and he had thought of every commodity she might need for her side effects.

They were greeted in the room with roses on the carpet and Emma instantly looked at him.

"What are you up to?" she asked with a raised brow.

"Nothing..."

The bed was also scattered with roses and she fully turned her back against it and stared him directly in the eyes.

"Tell me the truth."

"I just wanted to make this weekend special."

"It already is... I'm watching the show and your birthday is very soon."

"You're right." he answered with a smile.

"I still think you're hiding something."

"I guess you need to wait and find out."

Emma rolled her eyes at him but still smiled. She loved his silliness and over-romantic nature.

"You're too dramatic whenever you want to surprise me."

"Well, you have to deal with it. It's what you get from choosing me."

She couldn't help but smile and kiss him.

"I love your overdramatic ass."

"Well, I know you love my ass already."

The giggle that erupted from them both made the energy in the room far lighter than it had been lately. Being playful around each other was something very present in the relationship before her diagnosis and something that both of them seemed to be missing.

"I heard no lies." She squeezed it just to make her point come across and Yuzuru smirked at her.

"Should I run a bath for you?" he whispered in a tone that she knew too well.

"As long as you're coming too..."

He laughed and almost ran to the bathroom.

When Emma decided to check on him, she found him shirtless and bent over the bathtub, checking the temperature of the water as it filled the tub.

She leaned against the door and watched the view in silence, biting her lip at how sexy her boyfriend was just doing the most random of things.

It certainly took him some time to realize that she was right there, watching him prepare their bath but when he did, a sly smirk was instantly on his face.

"Like what you see?"

"You know I do."

"Good... so do I."

Smiling, she closed the distance between them and her hands found his belt far too quickly.

"Emma..."

"You're not planning on getting in the water with clothes on, are you?"

"You're the one who's overdressed." he muttered against her lips.

"I think we're both overdressed."
