chapter 10: I love you

lapis/pov

I woke up on peridots shoulder, I didn't remember falling asleep but I must have. peridot was just sitting on her phone looking through social media, and commenting on everything that was related to me because after last night everything was about me...

I still haven't moved from where I was which is why peridot didn't notice I was awake but when I remembered what happened last night I gasped "o-oh good morning sleepy head" peridot said while smiling a kind of dead smile. "morning" I mumbled through sleep and the thoughts of last night "peridot we're safe right?" I asked. even though I knew jasper was in jail and I knew I was safe but I just had this awful feeling that something bad was to come. "oh lapis, come here" I moved into peridots lap "lapis I promise everything will be okay" she whispered into my ear, sending chills down my spine. "I know, it just feels like something awful is going to happen" I said freaked out "well what can I do to help" she asked nicely. I shrugged "do you wanna go out to eat somewhere? maybe we can get donuts and eat them by the beach." peridot said. that actually sounded really nice. I hadn't left the room in a few days and I missed the beach "sure" I replied smiling

Time skip

me and peridot decide to walk to the big donut so we could get some fresh air or something. she looked really tired the whole walk there... "peridot, did you sleep okay? you look pretty tired." I asked. but she didn't respond, she just kept walking. "peridot?" I asked again but still no response. I was starting to freak out "peridot!" I said a little louder but still no response. I decide to stop bugging her since she obviously didn't want to talk.

when we finally arrived at the big donut I decided to talk to peridot again "peridot?" I said. she looked at me "yah?" was all she said "were you not listening to me back there?! I asked you three times if you were okay! and when you didn't answer it made me think your weren't okay!" I almost yelled. now everyone that was in the big donut was looking at us.

peridot grabed my wrist and pulled me outside. I'm assuming so nobody would hear us. "lapis I'm so sorry! I wasn't trying to ignore you I-I just zoned out" she said in a panic. I took a deep breath "it-its okay I was just nervous your the only person who I genuinely care about, you know?" I said "lapis..." peridot said but I cut her off "lets just get our donuts" I said walking back into the store. 

peridot/pov

I didn't sleep again last night... I don't think I can anymore. I know lapis is safe but what if she has a nightmare again! I already know I can prevent them, but I cant when I'm asleep. last night she started shaking on my shoulder and I just rubbed my fingers through her hair and she stopped, it feels good knowing I can help her, but all good things have consequences. I was totally zoned out when lapis was talking to me! I feel awful knowing that I made her worry .

when we went back inside everyone turned there heads to see us, and I couldn't tell if it was because of the scene we just made or if it was because of last night... "lets just get our donuts and get out of here. I don't like how everyone is staring at me" lapis said in a whisper only I could hear. I just nodded

"hi! what can I get for you two today?" the girl at the counter said. she had short blond hair and a little scar on her face, she was also really short "um hi, can I get.."

after we ordered we left without a word to anyone, or each other. as we got closer the beach lapis grabbed my arm. at first I was startled but I realized she was taking me somewhere. "lapis what are you doing?" I asked while smiling. she dint say anything she just sped up and started running while pulling me with her. "lapis!" I said. all I got was a giggle in response

I was just barely keeping up with. I was totally out of shape and I had no idea lapis would be so fast.

eventually lapis stopped. we were at the complete other side of the beach! right next a tall hill.
