Naomasa Tsukauchi is driving home after finishing his shift unusually early as a familiar flash catches his attention. He recognizes those action lines as belonging to All Might and decides to alter his course: the Symbol of Peace is not only a symbol but also a passionate hero-in-action, working diligently for the few hours per day he now can.
The detective locates him quickly and pulls over. All Might is carrying a boy on his shoulder, flipping through a notebook.
Not knowing what to expect, Naomasa calls his old friend with his hero name.
"Ah, Tsukauchi! Good to see you too! Working hard?"
"Only if you caught a villain."
"Here!" he says as he hands the detective two cola bottles filled with green sludge and the occasional eyeball.
He doesn't spend a long time inspecting the villain. "I'll take it in. We can't have your work going to waste."
"Thanks. I appreciate it! See you later then."
All Might puts the boy down from his shoulder and tries to wake him up. The boy, who must be about the same age as Naomasa's own daughter, reminds him of his personal schedule and pulls out his phone to let his wife know that he'll be picking her up a little later than he initially said.

The weather forecast had promised a cloudy day all for nothing: there was not a cloud in sight. You had noticed the nice weather during class but now that you are standing outside, it is as clear as day that they had been wrong.
As you get outside, you can feel the sun heating up your body and energizing it. You love when that happens – it feels as if you could jump into action and save the day fighting some villains. But realistically you had settled on a career that didn't involve fighting villains directly. Helping heroes by sitting in a comfy office seems infinitely more appealing.
You had agreed to go check out some rarer vending machines with your friends after school. You weren't particularly enthusiastic about the rusty blocks of metal with overpriced items in them but it was much better than sitting home alone and wondering when either of your parents would make it home from work. Your father is usually too tired to do anything after he eventually gets home. But at least he comes home! Your mother practically lives at the hospital she works at.
You walk with a big group of your friends. Everyone gets along well enough, but you usually stick with Hiro and Satoshi. You walk listening to the hero fans of the bunch talk about how Kamui Woods and Mt Lady captured a villain the other day. The conversation quickly shifted to the hero profession.
"Wouldn't you want to become a hero?" Satoshi asks you. You know he isn't asking this out of the blue – he and Hiro have always wanted you to go pro ever since seeing your quirk.
You've already given your future some thought, so you quickly reply, "I plan to apply for the U.A hero course only because of the networking advantages. I don't think my heating quirk is strong enough to actually allow me to become a full-time pro hero."
"Aww, but I feel like you could totally do it if you tried!" Hiro replies. She is the popular type, so if she supports you then everyone else in the group would also decide that you're worth supporting.
"I highly doubt it."
You make it to the wall of vending machines and one catches Hiro's eyes. "Toffee apples!"
"Kept fresh at -24 degrees Celsius," Satoshi observes.
"Oh, no biggie," she replies.
You hear her push in the coins and click a button on the machine. And a few seconds later she is a proud owner of an over glorified lollipop.
"We have someone very hot in our party," she continues and points the frozen toffee apple in your direction
"It's illegal for us to use our quirks in public," you reply seriously, unmoved by the praise but secretly thrilled that everyone's attention is on you.
"Oh, come on! Please!" She unwraps the plastic and holds it out for you. Some other people encourage you to do it too.
"Fine."
You place your hand on the apple and you can feel the cold disappear. After a few seconds you pull your hand away.
People gush – they love seeing your quirk in action. You can feel your popularity increasing, but you know that only Hiro is brave enough to actually ask you to use your quirk.
"My hero," she says and pulls you into a hug. The whole group is cheering and you can help but smile and hug her back, careful to not touch her with your dirty hand.
"Wait, let me get you a tissue," Satoshi says, noticing your hand.
"Ah, no need. Look, I've been practicing something new."
Everyone's eyes are glued to you as you concentrate most of your body heat into your palm and vaporize the sticky meltwater.
"And you're saying you can't become a hero!" Hiro exclaims and a chorus of people agrees that you could and should definitely become one.
That's when your phone beeps in your uniform pocket, indicating a message from your family. You quickly check it.
It's a message from your mom to be home for dinner. You feel something in your stomach turn and you become extremely hopeful.
"Sorry, guys, I need to go!"
People are audibly disappointed.
"Now?" Hiro asks.
"Let her go, Hiro," Satoshi says as he places a hand on her shoulder, preparing to hold her back for your sake.
"I can't miss this. See you later!"
