You're sitting on the sofa in Endeavour's office, thoroughly enjoying the warmth from your tea before sipping it. Shoto is doing most of the explaining about what happened with your dad, but you're responsible for filling in any details that he leaves out or gets wrong. After the talk is over, Endeavour closes his eyes to think, arms crossed.

"Well, it's partly my fault as well, but it's not like we can go back in time. Tsukauchi,"—

You flinch a little bit. "Um, Endeavour, if it's okay with you, you can call me by my first name."

"Alright. Y/n, are you free after this?"

"I am."

"Let's train your birth quirk then. You shouldn't give up. It would be such a waste if you didn't take this to heart and work harder, remembering all you've gone through and learned. Just like you said, apparently."

"Dad! You're pushing her."

"Can't you see, Shoto. That's the face of a girl who is begging for someone to comfort her and say it's okay to continue." Shoto looks at you with an expression you've never seen before. You blush both at the attention and what Endeavour said. "And I thought you were his boyfriend," he adds.

"What?" Shoto roars. You can't help but chuckle. They look at you.

"Thank you so much to the both of you," you say with a bow. "But Endeavour is right, Shoto. I want to continue but I'm not sure if it's alright. If I'm even allowed to."

He pulls you into a brief hug over the coffee table. "It's alright, Y/n. For what it's worth, you can become a hero."

Tears well up in your eyes again. You're sick of crying, but this time it's different because it's out of joy. Shoto steps closer and you hug again. For a while.

Endeavour clears his throat. "I'm sorry, but I thought you said you're free after this, Y/n."

"Ah, right," you say with a smile. "Sorry, Endeavour."

"If you and Shoto are going to be together anyway, you might as well start calling me dad."

"You're joking," Shoto says with a dumbfounded look. "He's joking," he repeats to you.

You chuckle. "Maybe at home, but not when others in your agency can hear it."

The dad and son give each other a satisfied look and all three of you head to a training room. First you give a proper rundown of your quirk to Endeavour, making sure to mention all the caveats associated with One For All: you probably have some power left (like All Might), but you don't want to use it, you're not sure how your quirk will react once you try to use it by itself, you're not actually even sure if the quirk has been passed on or not, etc. You also let him know of the training you and Shoto have been doing.

Endeavour latches onto that information and creates the room of fire. You absorb all the energy, but it gets too hot even for you. You let Endeavour know and he adjusts the flames so there are a little bit more than you can comfortably handle. With this you quickly build up your heat tolerance and capacity. He keeps increasing the heat to the point you're sweating buckets but getting used to it.

"Your quirk probably works with the logic "if you've felt it, you can reproduce it". Try to absorb as much heat as you can. Make it your new baseline, Y/n!"

The heat becomes too hard to bear and Endeavour slowly puts out the flames. You try to maintain the heat you have absorbed while also regulating your body temperature to normal. You also succeed at melting Shoto's ice. You reach the conclusion that you also need to train your mental and physical agility to pass the exam.
