TWO POWERS (Todoroki Shoto x Reader)

Chapter 10: USJ

"For today's hero basic training, it has turned into a class with three instructors, All Might and me, and one more person," Aizawa explains.

You look around in class, the faces of your classmates flashing by, gathering the courage to turn your head more and look at Todoroki.

Sero, diagonally from your right, quite directly asks, "Excuse me, what are we doing?" allowing you to take a look back there. Todoroki looks the same as usual, but you wonder if he's really alright.

"Disasters, shipwrecks and everything in between. It's rescue training," your tired teacher explains.

"Rescue? Seems like a lot of work again."

"Right?" Mina responds to Kaminari's comment full of excitement.

"You're kidding? This is the duty of a hero. My arms are ready to rumble."

You decide to look at Todoroki one more time.

"No one can beat me in water, ribbit"

He doesn't seem to be very impressed with the activity, or anything really.

"Hey, I'm not done," Aizawa's stern comment grabs everyone's attention, including yours. "You can decide if you want to wear your costume or not this time. Because there are probably costumes that limit your abilities as well. The training will take place off-campus so we're taking a bus. This is all. Start getting ready."

You take your time with getting up as you know you will wear your P.E uniform. Uneven and hazardous terrain is not something you want to greet with your bare legs and arms. It's better to wear the PE uniform that at least covers your legs. You decide to wear your modified Mary Janes, however, just to make sure you don't slip. You make a mental note to redesign your hero costume.

Having finished your transformation, you head outside and wait for the bus. Iida's whistle is piercing your ears in a steady beat in addition to him shouting orders to form two lines so entering the bus would go smoothly. You take your place between Bakugou and Mineta and behind Kirishima but as it turns out that the layout is too different from what Iida had imagined, everybody sits wherever they want. Most of them remain in the middle of the bus.

You look around, thinking where to sit when Todoroki approaches you and invites you to sit with him at the back, away from the main ruckus. You take a seat near the window and are about to stare out into the distance when he says,

"Sorry for yesterday, I probably shouldn't have said anything. I made you uncomfortable."

"No, I'm sorry I didn't say anything. I wanted to, but I couldn't find the right words."

"You didn't have to say anything, I'm happy you listened."

"Of course, it must be difficult living with such a burden."

For a while you don't say anything and focus on the conversation in front of you. People seem to be discussing their quirks.

"So your dad's a hero," you say without really thinking. You scan his expression, the way his mouth twitched downward and his heterochromatic eyes narrow.

"Yeah, the Number Two hero, Endeavour."

It feels like your heart turned to stone and fell to your stomach. "The Endeavour?" You could barely get your voice out.

"I understand it might be shocking. This is why I want to surpass him without using his power."

"We're here, stop messing around," you faintly hear Aizawa say from the front of the bus. It must have been primarily addressed to the students near him.
