Its 2023 and things are a tad bit rubbish in the USA. Riots still going on, the race for the 2024-25 election, multiple impeachments for multiple people on the right, the whole dumpster fire.
However, it was not on the bingo board of Texas to be suddenly engulfed in a plane of light and be suddenly transported to a new medieval era-like world.
But that seemed to be the case for Texas on October 3rd, 2023. The Texas state was suddenly in the middle of a vast ocean with no visible land for a miles, the Texas government were scratching their heads on what the hell just happend, some of the civilians reported that they also saw the light flash in their eyes, even when they needed to take a small nap.
This left the Texas state governor, Greg Abbot, to quickly take charge and made a temporary government that can keep things in order. In which, consequently, made him president of Texas.
On the same note, Ted Cruz, the Texas senator, was informed he would need to stay as the senator, and probably head diplomat if the chance they stumble across a foreign nation.
(Ted Cruz)
(Greg Abbott)
In which Greg Abbott immediately starting making preparations for the worse and started to push the idea that more farms are needed to keep food production high, and keeping the costs of food low for as long as possible until they somehow manged to find a way back to their world.
However, Abbott was also a pusher for more manufacturing, and put a state of address of what the future of the Lone Star would be.
Another thing to note is that Texas' resources were also refilled, oil wells that were dry suddenly became full, iron and coal mines filled with coal and iron. Also the fact that farmland was much more richer than it was before.
Despite Nasa and Scientists not having a logical explanation, farms and industrialist mining companies prospered with the sudden refill on valuable resources.
One thing that was surprising is that the internet still worked, and so did the content on YouTube, Twitter, and other platforms. So It is confirm that the electronics and power still worked.
However, one thing that came up to Greg Abbott's mind, military. The Texas national guard only had around 19,000, and the combined numbers of all branches would mean the Texas military stood at 108,000 troops strong, which was puny compared to other nations from the world they left behind such as Russia, the USA, and China.
The new minister of Texas Defense saw this could be a huge problem in the unpredictable future, and introduced mandatory conscripts. How it works is that when you turn 18-21 you need to serve in the military for at least 5-7 months, and after that time is up, you can leave or extend your time.
As a result, the military stood 120,000 troops strong and the national guard at 24,000. On paper, it would be a small army, but Texas being a quarter of a million square miles, it was okay to have.
Fast forward around 2 weeks and people in Texas are getting used to the newer way of life. People working in farms, oil and coal. With manufacturing as well.
However, people up in the panhandle of Texas said they needed more land to raise their rapidly growing population of cows, and in order for the Texas government to get that land they would need to fight for it.
Despite their beliefs that they were in an endless ocean, the opportunity would come really soon in an unexpected way.
