"Somebody's coming." A little girl whispered, while staring out the window.

"Come on Sophie. You know, nobody ever comes here on Halloween." Her brother, Dylan, said while walking to the couch.

Two girls and their mother come down the stairs. Appearing to be in an argument. Which they were.

"But, mom, it's just a costume party." The ginger twin, Melanie, said.

"You've gotta let us go. The whole world is going." The brunette twin, Marnie, said. "If we don't go, we'll be freaks."

The girls were trying to convince their mom to let them leave the house with their friends. As their friends were already there to see them, and were sitting in the dining room.

"You know, the odds were 50% I'd get one normal sister." Dylan said while the girls chased after their mom.

As the twins passed him, after hearing what he said, they pushed him backwards onto the arm of the couch.

"Mom, were 13. We're practically grownups." Melanie said, as the twins stopped in front of their mom. Their friends right behind them.

"We're certainly old enough to make our own choices. Right?" Marnie asked as she looked back at the girl's friends.

"Yeah. I guess so." The one dressed as a clown answered.

"Is there an age for that?" The one dressed as a witch asked.

"Look, girls, I'm sorry. But you are not going out on Halloween." Their mother said to them as she turned back to look.

"Why?" The twins asked together.

"I have my reasons. And I will explain them to you when...you're...taller." She said. Hesitating slightly.

"Mom, you've been saying that for, like, our whole lives." Marnie said as Melanie rolled her eyes. "Okay? It's just one night."

"What is the big deal?" Melanie asked their mom.

"I mean, it does seem a little unfair seeing as how they like weird stuff so much." One of their friends spoke up. It was the one dressed as a witch.

"Yeah. Halloween is, like, made for them." The girl dressed as a clown said.

"Skeletons, witches, vampires. You know, they spend our whole math class drawing ghosts in their notebooks."

"Guys!" Melanie and Marnie cut off. After seeing the look on their mother's face.

"Alright. That's all. Thank you all for coming, you've been a lovely audience but the show is over." Their mom said while leading their friends over to the door. "The twins will see you all, tomorrow."

"Mom!" Marnie shouted as Melanie went over next to Sophie by the window. Waving her friends goodbye.

"I am so sick of this!" Melanie shouted after their mom shut the door.

"I want to know why we can't be like other kids and go out on Halloween." Marnie said as she walked over to her sisters.

"I mean, our poor little sister should be out trick or treating. But look at her! You've kept her from a normal childhood." Melanie said.
