"That's very sweet of you dears, but you haven't been trained yet, and since your mother isn't of the mind to help, I guess I'm just on my own." Aggie said as she put the cap on the talisman, then began to chant a spell.
It worked for a second, but then stopped. "Oh, drat! That's what I get for trying to use instant. It just doesn't work like it does when you make it from scratch."
"That's something we can help you with." Melanie said
"We can cook." Marnie mentioned.
"If you count pouring cereal." Dylan sassed out.
"Well, let's look at the original recipe." Aggie said as she led the kids over to her giant spell book. "Vampires fang, hair of a werewolf, sweat of a ghost. I suppose we could get these ingredients in town. But we have to be careful not to reveal our true purpose. I can't be certain who to trust anymore."
"Let's do it!" The twins said.
"Yeah!" Sophie agreed. Then they all looked to Dylan.
"Alright." He said. Causing the others to cheer.
All of them put their hands together, then set out for town. Their grandmother explaining a few things on the way.
"Is there gonna be a Halloween party today, grandma?" Sophie asked. "Everybody is all dressed up."
"This is the way we always dress, dear. The people who started your Halloween just imitated our traditions. Mortals see, mortals do." Aggie explained. "That's the way your mother met your father. By crashing a Halloween party. He loved her witches is costume."
As they continued to walk, a few creatures greeted their grandmother, and she greeted them in return. Dylan and Marnie talked, they ran into Aggie's friend Harriet and then Aggie led the kids to an ice cream shop. Following after the Mayor.
"Calabar? Could I speak to you for a moment?" Aggie asked.
"Of, course. Hello, again Soapy!" Calabar said.
"Sophie!" All the kids corrected him.
"Sophie. Oh, you know, I think I happen to have an extra sundae." Calabar said as he pulled an ice cream sundae out of his coat pocket. The kids sat at a table, as Aggie and Calabar went to talk in the corner.
Marnie and Melanie were looking out the window, when Mel noticed a bunch of broomsticks. She tapped her sister, and pointed them out through the glass. Mel and Mar then walked out of the shop, and to the brooms. They began to look at them in complete awe.
"Flying brooms! Wow!" Marnie said, examining one of the brooms in the wrack.
"Double wow!" Melanie said. Looking at a broom identical to the one Marnie was, except it was purple.
"Well, girls..." Aggie trailed off as she approached the twins. Dylan and Sophie by her side.
"Grandma, look at these things." Marnie said. Her and Melanie walking over to their grandma and siblings.
"Yes, well, they are a bit more snazzier than when I was a girl." Aggie responded. Walking the twins back over to the brooms.
"Can we get one?" Melanie asked. Giving her best puppy dog eyes.
