"Marnie, Melanie, it's a trap. He's waiting for you." Luke told them.
"Outta our way, Luke." Marnie ordered.
"Look, about what happened earlier, I swear I didn't know he was gonna do that to your mom and grandma."
"Save your tricks, twerp. Ok? I'm busy."
"No, I swear." Luke said, finally looking over at Melanie. She seemed like the most reasonable, as she didn't insult him or push past him. "He said all he wanted was the talisman, and he'd let your grandma go."
Melanie seemed to believe him, if not slightly. But Marnie was the opposite.
"I said get outta our way." Marnie said.
Suddenly, the wind picked up. Everything turned slightly chilly, and Luke pulled the twins over to hide behind something.
Dark smog covered the sky, and the evil warlock appeared. Soon he began addressing all of Halloweentown.
"I have returned! Your moment of destiny, has arrived. I offer you the chance to return to our days of glory. To end this exile from the mortal world, which the humans have stolen from us. Follow me, my fellow citizens of Halloweentown. Too long have we been exiled, to this second class world. Forced to live in this, Halloweentown."
Melanie looked down at the talisman in her hands, then back up to find Luke and Marnie looking at her.
"I've gotta install this thing before it's too late." Luke shook his head, and Marnie's eyes widened. Melanie was already forming a plan in her head.
"No, he'll see you. You'll end up just like the others." Luke said in worry.
They looked up to see the evil warlock reveal who he actually was. It was Calabar.
"Calabar?" Marnie asked in shock.
"You knew?" Melanie asked Luke, and he looked away from Marnie and back to her.
"Look. I made an awful mistake. So let me try and make up for it." Luke said, looking between the twins. "It's our only chance."
Melanie had an idea. Luke helping made it easier, but only slightly. She just hoped Marnie wouldn't argue like she normally does.
"But before we can be sure of success," Calabar continued his speech. "We must find the ones who would stop us. The ones who are half human!"
"Okay." Melanie whispered. Once again gaining the other two's attention. "I have a plan. I just need you both to trust me." She told them.
Something in the crowd had caught Calabar's eye. A person in Aggie Cromwell's red cloak was moving through the creatures.
"Oh, young Cromwell." Calabar said. "You thought you could hide from me? What, no sister? Stop. Give me the talisman." He demanded.
The one in the cloak didn't stop. They picked up their pace, and started shoving a few who were in their way.
"I said stop! Give me the talisman!" Calabar ordered once more. The one in the cloak started to run as much as they could in the crowd. Calabar jumped off the roof and landed in front of them. "How dare you disobey me?"
