The bus stopped in a bright and sunny place. Marnie and Melanie just knew it was Halloweentown. Dylan still hadn't clued in yet.
The three climbed off the back of the bus, and looked around the surrounding area. Sure enough, monsters and creatures of all kinds were roaming free and happy.
"Dylan this is it!" Marnie said.
"Mom said they were just pretend." He acted like he didn't hear.
"Dylan, this is Halloweentown. Just like the book." Melanie said while holding his shoulders and looking into his eyes. Trying to get it into his head that this was real.
"Or maybe we fell asleep on the bus. Yeah, yeah. Melanie did look sleepy. That's it. It's all a dream."
Melanie just rolled her eyes at her brother.
"The decorations, the goblins, the witches, the ghosts?" Marnie pointed out everything.
"And grandma, she was a dream too."
"Oh no!" Melanie said.
"Grandma, where did she go?" Marnie asked as she looked around.
While she did, Dylan and Melanie spotted someone get off the bus. Both of them getting Marnie's attention and pointing to the bus. Once the orange thing moved, they all saw their little sister Sophie. Whom they thought to be asleep when they left the house.
"Sophie! How did you get here?" Marnie asked her.
"Careful, she could be a mirage." Dylan said. Marnie ignored him, and Melanie slapped his arm.
"I followed you onto the bus." Sophie said.
"But you were asleep." Marnie pointed out.
"I was pretending." Sophie said.
"See, you're both bad influences." Dylan said.
"The pumpkin doesn't look very nice like in the book." Sophie said, looking at the giant pumpkin.
"You're right." Marnie said.
"It is different." Melanie said.
"It's the bad thing." Sophie said.
"How do you know about the bad thing?" Melanie asked her.
"What bad thing?" Dylan asked.
Just then, a man in a suit walked up to them. He was twirling his cane in one hand.
"Well, well. Hello there." He said. "I don't believe we've met, and that means I'm in trouble. Cause the Mayor is supposed to know everybody."
"I'm Sophie." Their sister introduced herself.
After the Mayor pretended he couldn't hear, he pulled a lollipop out of his left ear. After offering it to Sophie and her refusing, he made it disappear into thin air.
"I'm Marnie."
"I'm Melanie." The twins shook both his hands at the same time.
"Calabar." He introduced. "And, that wasn't a trick. I'm a warlock in my off hours. And you are?" He asked Dylan.
"Human."
"This is our brother, Dylan." Melanie said.
"We're Aggie Cromwell's grandkids." Marnie said.
"Wait a minute. Are you Gwen's kids?"
"Yeah. People say I look like her." Melanie said.
"You know our mom?" Dylan asked.
"Well, I did a long time ago. You do look like her, uh, is she here with you?" Calabar asked, looking around for their mom.
"Uh, no. But that's okay." Marnie said. Coming up with a sort of lie. "You see, we came with our grandma."
"And we lost her in the crowd getting off the bus." Melanie said, having seen where her twin was going. "Know where she lives?"
"Of course. She's lived in the same house for 200 years." Calabar said. "I'll get Benny to run you up there." He then whistled, and a cab pulled up.
"Howdy Mayor. What's the rush? I'm on my lunch hour, fillet of fish!" Benny, the skeleton cab driver, said. He was holding up a fish bone. "Ha! Just kidding. What's the deal?"
"I found a bunch of Cromwells in the town square. Need you to give them a lift up to their grandma's place.." Calabar said to Benny. The kids then walking up to the cab.
"Sure it's just over the river and through the woods. Ha!" Benny said. "Actually, it's just two streets over, and up a quarter mile past the old movie theater."
"Say hi to Aggie for me!" Calabar called as the kids got in the taxi cab. "He's a much better driver than he is comedian." He told the kids after the door shut.
"Hey!" Benny called back.
"Thanks for your help!" Marnie told him.
"So long, Soapy." Calabar said to the sister.
"Sophie!" She corrected as the car drove off.
