Witches Brew || Halloweentown

Chapter Ten

Marnie and Melanie had followed Luke and Aggie to the old movie theater. As they ran through the door, they saw the evil force from the witches glass beforehand. They grew worried immediately.

"Mother!" Gwen screamed.

"Grandma!" Mar and Mel shouted out.

"Get them!" The evil warlock commanded.

Luke ran over, and Gwen raised her hands while she chanted a spell.

"Wastrel youth, of united hours. Be thee vanquished by my powers!" She enchanted. Only, Luke got covered in yellow sunflowers instead. "I said powers, not flowers." Gwen complained.

She then ran up to her mother, with Marnie and Melanie right behind her.

"This is your last chance. Give me the talisman." The warlock demanded Aggie.

"Never!" The older woman denied.

"Keep your brother and sister back!" Gwen told the twins.

The warlock went to spell Aggie, but Gwen pushed her out of the way in time. Instead she was hit with the evil magic.

"Mom!" Marnie shouted.

"Mommy!" Melanie screamed simultaneously.

"Gwen." Aggie said, full of remorse.

"Sleep now, Agatha Cromwell. When you awake, I shall be your master." The warlock said, before throwing the magic spell at Aggie.

"No!" The twins said as Dylan and Sophie ran behind them.

"Come on!" Dylan yelled at them as he tugged on their arms.

"We've gotta save them." Marnie said.

"We can't save them unless we save ourselves, first. Come on." Dylan said back as Sophie opened the back door.

Melanie watched as the evil warlock shriveled and screamed at the sun. Marnie had gone to Sophie, and Dylan was still tugging on Mel.

As Dylan, Marnie and Sophie left out the door, Melanie heard her name.

"Melanie."

"Grandma?"

"Go. Don't worry, it's just an evil spell that freezes us. Go!" Aggie shouted with the rest of her strength, before finally freezing up.

The four kids ran out the door, down the stairs and around a corner. Melanie had been in front and when she stopped, Dylan bumped into her back. Sophie and Marnie stopping when he did.

"What are you doing? We gotta get back to grandma's." Dylan said.

"Not yet." Melanie told him. Catching her breath, and running her hands through her hair.

"Not yet? That evil shadow creature is gonna turn us into statues." He frantically told her.

"He won't follow us out here. Didn't you see? He can't stand the sunlight. We're safe for now." Melanie told him and the others.

"I want mommy and grandma." Sophie said sadly.

"Don't worry." Marnie said as she crouched down to Sophie's height. "Your big sisters, are gonna get mommy and grandma back."

"You are?"

"Well, duh. Of course we are. There are just a few things we need first." Melanie said, before nodding at Marnie. Who came to stand next to her.

"You're gonna do some shopping?! Can't this wait?" Dylan asked them.

"No. We have to finish that witches brew." Marnie told him.

"Getting that talisman lit, is our only chance at saving mom and grandma." Melanie added on before looking back to her twin.

"Here. I copied the ingredients from grandma's cook book." Marnie mentioned. Handing a paper to Dylan to read.

"Hair of a werewolf? Sweat of a ghost?" He asked incredulously.

"Come on, Dylan." Marnie said as she snatched the paper back. "We're Cromwells. Together we can conquer anything."

Marnie stuck her hand out, and Melanie added hers on top. Sophie next. They looked at Dylan, before he too added his hand. Then all the kids set off to get the things they needed.

The first place they went was Wolfie's. A hair salon owned by a werewolf. Marnie distracted him, as Dylan took a razor and snuck up from behind. He shaved off a bit of hair, and they all ran out.

Next, they went to the gym to find a sweaty ghost. They saw all kinds of creatures, including the one from their book. The one Sophie called Snotman. They ran into the steam room, and saw a ghost get in a sweat box. Dylan tried distracting him, while Marnie turned up the heat.

Eventually, Sophie threw on a clean white towel and pretended to be a ghost herself. At least, the mortal version of a ghost. Melanie saw a small empty glass vial, and collected a few drops of the ghost's sweat. After the heat kicked in.

Lastly, they went to the tooth fairy's dental office. Melanie stayed outside with Dylan and Sophie, as Marnie snuck in and got a vampire's freshly pulled out fang. Apparently, one was a current patient there. Lucky for them.

All they had to do was go back to Aggie's, make the brew, fill the talisman and chant the spell. Then they could save their mom and grandma.
