Continuing from chapter four a little the rest beyond is chapter five.
Olivers pov:
Suddenly, the lights flicker and die, plunging the room into darkness. But the quiet doesn't last. The front door crashes open, revealing a shadowy figure slowly advancing into the house. Macie screams and instinctively jumps on top of me, seeking refuge from the intruder. I wrap my arms around her protectively, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it's what I've longed to do.
A familiar voice echoes from the doorway, "Oliver, are you here?" As a flashlight beam cuts through the darkness, I recognize the voice. "Carson? Yeah, we're over here. You scared us half to death," I reply with a relieved smile, still holding a trembling Macie.
Carson approaches us, apologizing for the scare and explaining his failed attempt to bring a doctor for Macie. He had been on his way back from a canceled meeting when he decided to check on us. As he speaks, his flashlight illuminates Macie still on top of me. An awkward silence follows as Carson takes in the scene before him.
"Macie, it's okay now," I reassure her, gently patting her back. She slowly lifts her head from my chest and blushes deeply as she realizes our position. She quickly moves off me and sits beside me, leaving a void that I instantly miss.
Carson introduces himself to Macie and explains his role as my manager. Macie looks confused and asks if Carson helps me run my company. I catch Carson's eye and mouth "I didn't tell her I was famous." Carson quickly recovers and plays along.
After ensuring that Macie is okay and offering to call the doctor if needed, Carson drags me away to restore power to the house. As we leave, I can't help but glance back at Macie, wondering how this night will change things between us.
Carson's pov: ( bet you didn't see that coming huh?
Pulling Oliver aside, I can't help but wonder what's going on in his mind. Why all the secrecy and deception? "So, does she know you're famous? Or are you keeping that a secret too?" I ask, hands on my hips as he fumbles with the breakers.
"I don't know if she knows. If she does, she's good at hiding it. I didn't tell her because I wanted to be treated like a normal person for once," he replies, flipping the breakers and illuminating the room with a satisfied smile.
"Normal? Ollie, you're a worldwide heartthrob pop star. What do you mean by 'normal'?" I retort, and he sighs, scratching his head.
"I know I'm famous, but to her, I'm just a regular guy. I want her to know me for who I really am, not as 'Oliver Thomas the heartthrob'. All my life, people have used me for my fame and money. I want real love for once, not the fake kind I've been getting from past girlfriends. Plus, she's been through some stuff too. Her ex cheated on her with her friend, so she knows what it feels like," he explains, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"So you like her then? Is that why you're lying?" I tease, smirking as his face turns beet red. Gotcha! After all, beneath the manager-artist relationship, we're still friends.
"Carson," Oliver suddenly says, his voice shaky. "I... I think I like her."
I smirk at his confession, not surprised in the least. "I knew it," I say, clapping him on the back. "Just be careful, Oliver. She seems like a lovely person who's been through a lot. She's fought many battles and probably would do it all over again. But her heart has scars, I'm sure. Just be careful. I would hate to see either of you get hurt."
"Well, I'm off to bed. Good luck with her, Ollie. And remember what I said - be careful with her and your heart as well. You both have been through enough. Don't play with her heart," I advise him. He nods in understanding, bidding me goodnight as I do the same.
Oliver nods taking my own words to heart before saying goodnight and walking away towards the living room where Macie is.
I choose one of the many guest rooms and settle in for the night, my thoughts still lingering on the girl in the living room waiting for Oliver to return. I sincerely hope she's different from all the other girls in his life that I've warned him about before. He never listened because he was so desperate to find love. But I hope she doesn't break his heart and treats him the way he deserves to be treated. I don't want to see my friend devastated again from all the heartbreak. It was painful to see him crying and devoid of energy after every breakup when he confronted the harsh truth.
With a sigh, I climb into bed, ready to sleep through this stormy night. As I close my eyes, I can't help but hope that I'm not wrong about this girl.
Olivers pov:
I can't believe I confessed my feelings for her. It seems to confirm what I've been feeling, but I wish she felt the same way. These thoughts swirl in my mind as I return to the living room where Macie is sleeping.
Seeing her asleep on the couch, I can't help but smile. Careful not to wake her, I gently lift her into my arms and carry her to the guest room where she'll be more comfortable.
I leave a note for her, letting her know it's okay to spend the night and that my room is right next door if she needs anything. I take one last look at her peaceful face before closing the door and heading back to the living room.
My mind is filled with thoughts of Macie as I settle down on the couch, turning on the television for some background noise. Grabbing a blanket, I prepare myself for a long night. Sleep seems elusive with Macie occupying my thoughts. But eventually, my eyes grow heavy, guess I wont be sleeping in my own bed like i thought i thought once more before my eyes surrender to sleep.
macies pov:
I wake up to the sound of thunder. It's still dark outside, and the rain is pouring down hard. I check my phone and see multiple missed calls from my uncle. He's probably worried sick.
I quickly send him a text, assuring him that I'm safe and staying with someone I met. As I head to the kitchen for a glass of water, I hear a loud noise coming from the living room. Startled, I clutch my glass tighter and decide to investigate.
As I walked into the living room I see something on the couch with the TV blaring. As I got closer I saw it was oliver knowing it was him I sighed in relief as I stepped even closer I saw he was asleep. Awww I thought to myself how cute he is while sleeping. Trying not to make a noise I grabbed the remote and turned the TV off and grabbed him a blanket laying it on him and smiling at how cute he looks when he's asleep. But then those thoughts leave my head as I walk away with thoughts of he probably doesn't like me or wants a relationship since he just got out of one. I walk back to my room and sigh before climbing into be wishing I was wrong cause I think I like him.
As soon as I got back, I saw a note laying on the floor, clearly having fallen off somewhere. Curiosity piqued, I picked it up and read the heartfelt message. A smile formed on my face as I realized Oliver must have left me the note. I gently placed it on the end table and climbed back into bed, feeling content as I fell asleep. I couldn't help but hope that the morning wouldn't be awkward after this sweet gesture.
I climb into bed with a bright smile on my face slowly falling asleep dreaming of whats to come.To be continued.
