Damian was being impossible.

He had me sitting in his study, on his lap, reading a book as he was going through paperwork. I tried to move away, but he pulled me back. "I thought this got better after we had sex," I mumbled as I crossed my arms in defeat.

"Just enjoy it," he kissed my forehead. I was enjoying it, but I felt like a burden. Damian would be faster without me to cause a distraction.  I could be happily sleeping in bed right now instead.

"Can I at least get a new book?" I finished my first book not long ago and I had nothing to do now.

"Just close your eyes and rest," I didn't like that answer so I started to squirm. "Beloved," he warned me. "Stop or I will fuck you on this desk right now."

"Damian," I was intrigued by the idea, but also exhausted. "I don't understand why you are acting like this."

"Neither do I," he sighs. "But this mate thing is new to both of us, so let's just do what makes us feel comfortable. And right now, that means you and I sitting like this for a little longer. So stop squirming."

"But I am not comfortable," I sat up a little. "I am stuck on your lap, and every time I move you growl a little. And I am just hindering your work being here."

"You are not hindering me," he drops his pen and fully turns to me. "I want you here. I need you here or I can't work at all. I would just be thinking about you. Nothing would get done if you were not in this room. This is how I get work done."

"Damian," I cupped his face in my hands. "What is going on? You are still clinging to me. This should have gone away after the knotting. I am concerned and think we should call for the doctor."

"I don't want to see a doctor," he growled.

"Damian Wayne!" The shock of his outburst gave me the strength to break away from him. I stood up and took a few steps away from him to create distance. "Did you just try and alpha control me?!"

"I am sorry," he stood and tried to grab for my arm.

I took another step back and glared at him. "Damian, we are calling for a doctor."

"I am fine. I feel fine. Just come here, let me hold you," he opened his arms for a hug.

I turned around and opened the door, finding the nearest guard already waiting at the door. "Call for the royal doctor, please."

"Yes, future Luna," he bowed and rushed away.

"Rachel," Damian's hand found mine and he pulled me back into the room. "That is unnecessary. I said I am fine, and I don't need a doctor to confirm that. I just need you."

"Let the doctor decide that," I placed my hand on her forehead to judge for a fever. "You might not show signs of being sick, but you aren't yourself."

"I just don't want you to leave," he hugs me, catching me off guard. "Just sit back down and let me finish my work."

"Just until the doctor arrives," I nod, not wanting to push him.

Twenty minutes later there was a knock at the door. I stood up and opened the door (much to Damian's protest). The doctor came inside and bowed to both of us. "How can I help the future alpha and Luna?" He smiled.

"The future Luna is concerned for my health, even though I am fine," Damian stood up and grabbed my hand. "Just assure her that I am healthy, and be on your way." He was more commanding, but I crossed my arms and didn't give Damian the chance to hold my hand if he was being rude.

He growled and forcefully took my hand.

"I see," the doctor nodded in understanding with what I have had to go through. "Please sit down, Your Highness. With a quick examination, I should be able to have an idea of what is going on."

I turned to Damian who looked ready to tear the head of this poor doctor. I nudged his ribs, giving him a warning. He turned to me and saw how serious he was, so he sighed and sat down in front of the doctor.

He began by listening to Damian's heart, taking his temperature, and measuring his blood pressure. Damian grumbled and complained the whole time, but I was so focused on the tests that I didn't listen to anything but what the doctor said.

"I can't find anything physically wrong with him," the doctor turned to me. "But if you explain your cause of worry, I might be able to figure something out."

"He clings to me, always wanting to hold or at least touch me," I place my hand on his shoulder, which he covers with his own hand. He squises my hand back but keeps his mouth shut. "I can't leave the room for more than a few minutes. He said he went into a rut..."

Damian cut me off, "Rachel!" He warns, clearly a little embarrassed.

"It's nothing I haven't heard before," the doctor assures us. "Do go on."

"We knotted, but even after he still acts this way," I go on.

"Rachel," Damian stands, blocking me. I turn and see his red face.

"You Highness, knotting is perfectly natural for a newly mated couple," the doctor stands and gets Damian's attention. He turns and looks at the doctor, clearly ready to argue. "Prince Damian, if you knot, your symptoms should have subsided. Her worry for you is well deserved."

"Then what is this?" Damian sat back down and took my hand in his. I am not sure if he was comforting himself or me with this action, but I felt comforted by him nonetheless.

"I have a theory, but I would have to run a test," the doctor stood and grabbed his heart listener once again.

"Run what you must," Damian sighed and sat back.

"Not on you, Your Highness," the doctor came and stood in front of me. "If you would allow, may I run the test on you?"

"Me?" I sat back in shock.

"Yes," he smiles in a comforting way.

"Alright," I trusted him.

"What does she have to do with things?" Damian sat forward as the doctor adjusted the pieces over his ears. He looked ready to attack the doctor at any minute, but he was surprisingly holding back.

"It is painless, I assure you," the doctor bent down and put the other piece to my stomach. Within just a few seconds he stood back up with a smile. "As I suspected, the future Luna is already with child."

"What?" I couldn't believe what he just said.

"Congratulations," the doctor smiled.
