I woke the next morning to the smell of fresh bacon and eggs. I sat up and looked around, spotting the tray of food on the end table. I reached over and pulled the plate cover off of it, only to find nothing under it.

"What is it?" Donna asked as she woke.

"I smell food, but there is nothing on the plate," I pout.

"Where is it then?" Donna looked over at the empty plate, just as confused.

"The food is only for those who are willing to talk to us about yesterday?" Conner said as he stood at the door frame. Damian came around the corner holding two plates of food. "And we had the chef make everything for us. And it tastes splendid."

"That's unfair," Donna stood up and tried to reach for a plate but Damian pulled it back.

"No food unless you two explain yourselves," Damian said, going along with this ridiculous idea.

"You remember that diner we passed yesterday?" I asked, not wanting to deal with this so early in the morning.

"Oh," Donna turned to me, getting my drift. "Yeah, that did look good."

"I am buying," I said as I walked over to my bag and grabbed my wallet.

"Perfect," Donna said as she put on a coat.

"Wait a second," Conner panicked. "You're not going anywhere."

"Seems we have no other choice," Donna smirks, opening the door for me.

Damian let out a ground-trembling roar that stopped us both in our path. I could see Donna's body tense in fear, and I grabbed her hand to comfort her. "Damian!" I spun around and glared at him. "That was uncalled for."

"Uncalled for? No. My mate leaving the castle grounds without anyone knowing is uncalled for. Then she dares to threaten to leave again." Damian's eyes were black and I knew I was talking to his wolf.

"Robin," I let go of Donna's hand and walked over to my mate. "Please calm down."

"No," he said, holding firm.

"You are scaring Donna," I remind him.

"I don't care," he grumbles.

"Well, I do," I cross my arms.

"You don't get to be angry here," Robin let out a low growl. "I am the one who was abandoned."

Silence filled the room as my head started to spin. I couldn't fathom how Damian (or Robin for that matter) could ever believe we would abandon him. Donna cleared her throat and walked over to Conner.

"I believe that we should go," Donna said as she pulled Conner out behind her. "I will talk to you later, Rachel."

"Alright," I nod and wave.

A few more seconds of quiet take over before I finally come up with the words. "Robin? Do you believe that I abandoned you?" My voice was soft and hesitant because I didn't want to scare him off.

"What was I supposed to think?" Robin started to pace. "You left without a word. Just some stupid note. And after the fight we had... I assumed you weren't happy with me. Then I go to find you, and you are nowhere to be found. And your friend is gone too. I would have known you hadn't left me if Donna was still in the castle."

"Damian," I can't help but shake my head. "Us going out had nothing to do with you."

"Well, how would I know that? You didn't tell me where you were or even that you left." Damian paused and I saw that his eyes were back to normal. "And you were so sad after our fight. It killed me."

"I was upset, yes," I nod, not denying it. "But I was not upset enough to want to leave you. I want to talk about it, but I would never leave you over a stupid fight."

"You promise?" Damian turned to face me.

"I promise," I nod. "Besides, I can't leave the groom so close to the wedding." I wiggle my ring finger at him to remind him of the promise we made to each other.

"You still want to get married?" Damian came closer, drawing me into his arms. "I get it if you need more time to think about everything."

"Damian," I pulled back to fully see his face. "I believe we are going to be parents. I believe this fear is all in your head. You are just scared to lose me like you lost your mom. But I am not going anywhere. Take some time and think about this. Think about it."

"I will," Damian nods and pulls me into his chest. "Now, how about some breakfast?"

"I thought you would never ask," I chuckled and pulled out of his arms and headed to the bedroom, where I knew the plates of food were now resting.
