I touched my hand to my belly, in utter amazement. Just the thought of a baby growing inside of me excites and scares me all at once. I turn to Damian wanting to share my joy with my mate, only to find him less than excited.

He stood up and stormed out of the room, not saying anything. I stared at his fleeting shadow, mouth gaping open. I turned back to the doctor who was at a loss for words.

"I... I should go," I stood up.

"Please don't worry about it," the doctor tried to give me an encouraging smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Mates tend to have all kinds of reactions to this news. You my dear should rest. I am sure the Prince will be back shortly."

"I am sure," I didn't believe it, but I didn't want the doctor to know.

He packed up his things and gave me a list of foods I could and could not eat. He also gave me orders to rest, eat well, and get plenty of exercise outside. All of which I promised to do before seeing him out of Damian's study.

I didn't want to stay in that stiff room by myself anymore, so I quickly left, grabbing my book before going. Wanting to just wrap my head around everything, I decided going for a walk in the garden would be best.

I was standing by the roses when I saw Donna's bubbly smile rushing towards me. She hugged me tightly, knocking the air out of me for just a second. "Rachel, I am finally free. Conner is letting me off the hook."

"That's great news," I hugged her back.

"What are you doing here all by yourself?" Donna looked around for Damian. "You off the hook too? I never thought Conner or Damian would forgive us."

"He stormed out not too long ago and I haven't seen him since," I explained, unable to hide my sadness.

"Did you have a fight?" She became concerned.

"Something like that," I sat down on the nearest bench and waited for her to follow. "We talked about having kids in the future and Damian said he never wanted kids. He is afraid that I would die like his mother did."

"But she shifted while pregnant. As long as you don't, you should be fine," Donna covered her hand over mine. "And you have always wanted kids. Ever since I knew you."

"I know, but Damian is admitted," I shake my head. "And now I learn that I am already with child and Damian just storms out of the room without a word. Doesn't even look at me." I place a hand over my stomach. "I will choose this child over Damian if it comes to that."

"I know," she smiles sadly, knowing that there is no way to win this situation.

"Can I stay with you tonight? Just us? I don't really want to run into Damian right now." I turn to her, hoping that she can take me in for the night. Even the thought of being around an angry, or even worse, disappointed Damian is too much to bear.

"Of course you can," she hugs me. "I will tell Conner that I am staying with you and we can leave."

"Leave?" I didn't understand.

"We can go to town, get away," she stands up and takes my arm, pulling me up. "Stress isn't good for you or the baby, so we just need to give it a few days."

"But what about what happened last time?" I shake my head. "You just got your freedom back from our last stunt."

"So?" She shrugs.

"So, no." I was firm on that.

"Fine," she sighs. "Then what do you propose we do?"

"I stay with you for a while. When Damian cools off I will talk to him. If he asks me to get rid of the baby, then I will leave at that point." I was sure about it. I wanted my child to know his father, so I had to give Damian another shot.

"Okay," she nods. "But just know, I will be coming with you where ever you go."

"That's why you are my best friend," I hugged her. "Now, I want to go inside and get my things. I don't want to run into Damian."

"I'll go with you," she stood up and helped me. "I can help you pack."
