Damian's POV:
I knew going in this mission was a stupid idea. But my father commanded it, leaving me no choice. But I told myself I would be back before morning so it wouldn't matter.
Boy was I wrong.
Right in the middle of battle, I felt the pain rushing through my mate bond. It only lasted a few minutes, so I thought it might have been false contractions, but a few minutes later, they came again.
Like waves of pain, they crashed into me as I was in the middle of a battle. It distracted me enough to cause me to get cut by the other sides knife, but I recovered.
"What's the matter with you!?" Greyson yelled as he was frustrated by my distracted mind.
"Rachel is in labor and I am stuck here," I roar in frustration as I decapitate yet another of our enemies.
"What?" Greyson seemed taken back.
"Rachel is in labor and I am stuck here," I snap. "Sorry if I don't quite seem myself."
"What are you waiting for," Greyson sighs. "Go!"
That was all I needed. I started running, shifting into my wolf form, rushing back to our territory. It wasn't far, but each rush of pain set me back. I couldn't imagine what Rachel was going through.
I am sure she would be mad at me for not being there. And I would deserve every word she throws at me. I would never forgive myself if I miss the birth of my child.
Hours passed before I could sense the familiar scent of my territory. I rushed into the pack house letting my mate bond carry me to Rachel.
I rushed through the door, nearly taking it off its hinges. "Rachel," I rushed to her side, taking in her comforting scent.
I could see the tiredness in her eyes and I could feel her frustration with me through the bond, but she held my hand tightly.
"Damian," she called out my name.
Suddenly Donna was pushing me away, saying that I was covered in a fowl smell and couldn't be around Rachel like this. I knew I didn't smell pleasant, but the pale look on Rachel's face showed me how bad it truly was.
I promised to be gone for only a minute, wanting my pup to only scent me when I first held them in my arms. I knew it was strange, but I wanted the pup to know I was his father, and being covered in other people's blood would be confusing.
I rushed back to my room and jumped into the shower stripping off my close as I rinsed out my hair. Seconds later I felt another rush of pain and knew it was almost time.
I scrubbed faster and harder, cleaning myself off before turning off the shower and sliding into some sweats.
I ran down the halls, not caring who would see me, rushing back to Rachel's room. Suddenly a strange feeling came over me. All the pain from Rachel's side was gone and I felt almost drugged.
I crashed through the doors, finding my mate slumped over as the doctor held a knife to her stomach.
"No!" I roared and threw him across the room.
I ran to my mate, holding her limp body in my arms. Robin was in charge, growling at anyone who came close. Everyone went into submission at the sight of Robin's alpha pheromones.
"Robin!" The stupid doctor tried to come closer. "We have to get the baby out. The baby could die if it is not delivered soon."
"So you drugged her!?!" I roared.
"We had to," the doctor cowered. "She wasn't going to push without you."
I went feral, sending an earth shattering roar through the entire castle. Robin was fuming as he held onto his mate and his pup. He wouldn't listen to reason. Not even when his own father came running into the room did he stand down.
The doctor was taken out of the room by a few guards as Donna started move closer. "Robin," she said in a calm but hesitant tone. "Can you wake her? She needs to push."
I looked down at my mate, nestling my forehead to hers. My wolf started to purr, trying to wake her with calming vibrations.
Rachel's eyes started to flutter, and I began to get louder, wanting to see her beautiful eyes. Soon her eyes were on me, and she smiled.
"Damian," she gave a faint smile.
"Beloved," I let out a sigh of relief.
"What happened?" Said Raven as she looked around the room confused.
" I'll tell you everything," I said. "But first you need to push."
She looked down at her stomach, as if surprised for a moment. Before long her hand gripped mine and she cried out in pain.
"I am here," I whispered a reassurance in her ear.
