"Do you know if Kaminari likes guys?"
The moment he said it, Todoroki felt like an idiot. Haphazard phrasing, assuming Kirishima might know, and what would he even think about that question! He immediately went to correct his words- "In a research sense, of course, not that- it's-" God, he didn't even know what to say. All sorts of alarm bells were going off in his head as he went through his options- Ignore? Retry? Abort? Fail? Ugh, it had been two seconds and he'd already made himself look stupid!
"Yeah, he does. Was that it, or..?" Kirishima shrugged to go with his halfhearted response, which seemed odd.. until Todoroki realized what was up; the droopy hair halfway done up into his bandanna, dark circles under the eyes, and closing in test days meant that he had accidentally positioned his inquiry at the best time possible. Through sheer force of luck alone, he asked at one of the few times when Kirishima wouldn't care what he was asking- or why.
Smiling in private, triumphant success, he gave a simple response, "Thank you for your time. Good luck studying," and marched to the kitchen for tea-a-la-victory. Or, at least, that's what his friends would call it. He didn't mind the terminology.
Now, he just had to see if Kaminari liked him.
