Hi! So I just want to give a quick warning. The first flashback of this chapter can be found a bit boring by some people, so if you want, feel free to skip it or to go to the second flashback, since that one is way more important and will be further discussed in the next chapter.

Enjoy!

Harumi walked alongside her comrades to the village, her nervousness growing. A lot of bad things happened there. More than she liked to think about. There was Jin, of course, but she also had a few bad encounters with others there. Habiki. The villagers. That girl. Oh, that girl. Her heart broke as she realized what Kisame was referring to when he said 'shrilling' scream. That didn't even begin to describe the girl's face and the way she cried. It shook Harumi to her very core.

Itachi could see the somewhat troubled look on her face, wondering what had caused it. Was it because this was another massacre? Was it triggering negative thoughts for her? It may have just been because it was a murder sight, but he couldn't help but feel it was something deeper than that. He'd gotten into the habit, one he couldn't kick even years later, in distinguishing what was going on with her from her expressions as she rarely vocalized her worries. Her eyes usually voided a bit, and would either need physical touch or a loud sound to snap her out of it. That, or she would bite parts of her mouth. Unfortunately, he couldn't see when she did it to her tongue, but he could with her cheek and lip.

He assumed it was her way of coping. She zoned a lot in class as well, but did well to keep up. She would often study at his house after school, and he could see her focus when doing something important to her. As they continued walking, Harumi grew more and more anxious. She looked at the trees they passed, reminding her of the ones Jin so eagerly climbed. Her hands fisted. No. She couldn't lose her composure right now. She just needed to push it away. Still, one person that lingered in her mind was Habiki.

He and her had a very rocky relationship. First, there was the time when he kidnapped her when she was twelve and his comrades basically tried to torture her into giving information about the village. Then, there was the time within the first year of her travels with Hido that he tried to catch her for a bounty on her head. She managed to slip him by and run. Then, during her second year, something similar happened. Except, it all went wrong.

*Flashback*

Harumi and Hido walked together through the forest, both panting as they had traveled by trees for a long time. Harumi looked at her friend, to which he let out a loud sigh, shaking his head. "How much farther?"

"Aren't you supposed to be a former anbu?" Harumi asked with a small smile, teasingly.

"Yeah, and? We've been going for hours on end with little sleep," Hido complained, but immediately regretted it when he saw the look that passed on Harumi's face. His brows furrowed before he pushed her head against the side of his chest. "I know you got scared, Lavender. Don't worry about it. Those ninjas had no right throwing those accusations. They don't even know you."

They had been attacked by ninjas who threw murder accusations at Harumi, and Hido ended up fighting them off himself with ease. Still, Harumi had trouble sleeping because they had told her they would take her back to Leaf Village. She feared Danzo almost as much as she hated him. Hido would never let anyone take her back there though. He couldn't believe he ever worked for such a terrible man. Harumi stayed in that position for a little more while as they continued walking, but she couldn't shake a bad feeling she had. That something was wrong. Maybe-

They're behind you.

Harumi's eyes widened as she shoved Hido away and jumped back, a man with a kunai jumping in the spot where they stood seconds ago. He was wearing an anbu mask. She quickly pulled her own kunai out, Hido doing the same thing. The man stood up. "Harumi Uchiha, the girl wanted in all nations. I'm going to take you back with me now."
