“Oh please, tell me something that I don’t know.” I chuckled, resting my cup down. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it. “That’s what I thought.” I tilted my drink her way as she rolled her eyes. “You two are seriously acting like kids right now” Lira spoke, getting both of us to laugh. I decided to go out with Riona , just so I could let out some frustration that occurred today.
“So you really got a contract for Skullix?” Riona sat back crossing her legs, a clear glass of ice cold brandy in hand. “Is it hard to believe little Amber is in a contract for a well known fighting industry?” I replied to her in a coy manner. Lira just giggled as her girlfriend stewed in her own thoughts. “Well I guess you can say it is hard for me to believe that. But you know what happens when you get into the violent spirit of this Amber.” I sighed, “Father, you sound just like Morozova. The only difference is I haven’t told her about this yet.”
“You haven’t told her?” She sat up quickly. I could have seen the flash of fear that went through her eyes. “Yes, but maybe at a later time. I still don’t know if I have a permanent spot yet. I’m just basically training under this weird old dude.” Her eyes were still filled with an emotion I couldn’t seem to recognize, I’m thinking should I be bothered by it or just figure she’s worried about my safety. “Riri, you okay.” Lira held her shoulder softly, shaking her out of her daze.
She blinked a couple of times before looking to her left where she sat. “Oh, sorry babe. I was just talking to my other side.” She held her hands softly kissing them before turning back to me. “Just stay out of trouble Amber. The arenas in that industry are barbaric.” I nodded reassuring them that I’ll be okay. We all finished our drinks and paid, leaving the bar to go somewhere more lively. “Have you ever been to Outer Banxi?” Lira asked me. “Outer…?” I didn’t know what that was or where it was. “Damn you really don’t get out much.”
I rolled my eyes and got in the car with them. I never had been out of my provenic boundaries. Just to get my mind off everything, I’ll go to this “Outer Banxi”.
When we got there I was speechless. The building was in an arc shape, as we got out Riona gave her key to a valet guy and he took it to park. I looked around as the entrance was flooding in and out with people. We all walked in together and the cold interior brushed past my skin. A place that was aligned with stores going forward. With stairs and escalators leading down to another branched off area.
“So this is Outer Banxi?” I looked at Lira and asked. “Babes, not even close” she grabbed my hand dragging me down the stairs following Riona. We ventured further in, my ears picking up on the bass of music coming up in the distance. A crowd of parents swarming in and out of an open building. Her grip on my hand loosened as turned to me and smiled. “This is Outer Banxi.”
I looked around everywhere, music, dancing people all around, and a bar right in the middle of it all. “Well from a bar to a nightclub, nothing more lively than this” I smiled. I followed Lira in the middle of it all, and started dancing along with her.
When I came home, I had a major headache. My door locked behind me as I went to my room. I laid down meeting the cool welcome of my pillow and sheets. A sigh left my lips and my eyelids grew heavy. The amount of drinks I had might not give me a hangover. They weren’t really that strong, but… forget about it. I went out with Riona and Lira to get my mind off of that box, but right now everything is still lingering. I miss you dad…
Vale
I was cleaning up dishes from the dinner I prepared for mom and uncle. They had already left and well I wasn’t really in my normal mood. We discussed some things about me taking over. Honestly, I think I’m actually ready for it all. But it all has to happen within this year.
After I finished I went to my room, Cylen was stretched across my bed. I moved him a little and laid down. I grabbed my phone and started strolling just for some entertainment. I don’t know when I fell asleep. I just did. When I woke up the sun was just peeking out and the feeling of something fluffy on my head. I groaned, “come on Cylen.” I turned, causing him to fall on my empty pillow. I stared at the ceiling for a while before deciding to get up.
Cylen followed behind me like a lost kitten, which did annoy me a little. A quick shower later I slipped on a dress pants and shirt. I left the top button loose, just so I could breathe. I tied my wet hair in a bun before leaving. I grabbed my keys and phone while leaving the house. Before I even set foot out of the door my phone started to go off. I answered it quickly not knowing who was on the line, it probably could be mom.
“Hello?”
The other end was silent. I called out again but the line quickly went dead. I pulled it away from my ears to look at the Id. It was unknown, not even in my area code… “What..” It rang again, but it was a text.
‘Thanks for the box’
The box? Then it hit me, the box I asked Alexis to give to her. I thought she never received it. I sat in my car baffled for a moment. I didn’t know if I wanted to reply or not, but I don’t want to leave her without a response.
I can’t believe I missed that…
Amber
“Why the hell did I just listen to you?” I muttered. Tora really talked me into calling this woman… and texting her on top of it. She chuckled, telling me that it’s better to confront everything that happened other than hiding away. “Are you implying that I always run away from my problems?” I hissed. “Well so far from what I’ve seen, you tend to.” she replied.
“I don’t.” I growled leaving my room for a moment. I ignored her after her other attempts to prove me wrong. I didn’t care to listen more. I made some breakfast for myself before getting ready to head to the gym. Knowing my coach he wouldn’t be there until an hour later than our scheduled time. I grabbed my gym bag and stepped outside the door, just to see a familiar face. “Goodmorning Ms. Monroe.” He smiled with his hands cupped behind his back. “Morning Markus,” I mumbled while getting in the car.
“May I ask what the problem is?” he asked in a soft voice. I didn’t reply, I just hummed. I’m really not in the mood to bend any conversations. I just feel…
How do I feel?
I sighed leaning against the window with my eyes closed. “Do you need anything before heading to The Shallow, Ms. Monroe?” I shook my head. “Just call me Amber from now on. The formalities are starting to get weird” I said.
“Oh, sorry” he replied. Silence filled the car after that. We stopped in front of the building. I thanked him before he left and went inside. I went straight to punching bags.
