Alexis
She hasn't spoken to me since my abrupt dismissal. It was wrong of me to act in that way but at the mention of her, it just ticked a nerve. She doesn't understand that the truth isn't meant for everyone. Yes, I owe her an explanation, but I can't.
"Alexis?" I snapped out of my transe. My long-time associate called me. I sighed and apologized. I had zoned out. "You're thinking about that kid again aren't you?" I didn't answer his question and he understood. "So what are you going to do? There've been accidents with other newborns and they scattered all among your territory." I took a deep breath and scratched my scalp. "There's really a lot of these bastards, aren't there," I sighed. He chuckled, "it's your domain Alex. It's ethier someone's out there hoeing around or some of these people can withstand our venom."
I cringed at the thought of the first suggestion, but then the second had me thinking. "Maybe there is a possibility," I exasperated. "Do you have any men to spare, my good ones are on vacation right now," I continued. "I'm always here to lend a hand, things had calmed down back at Hubis," he smiled, flashing his fangs. I rolled my eyes and we conversed more before getting up to leave.
I debated on calling her to see how she's doing. She's a fully grown woman but it's my duty to protect her. Even if she hates me right now. I rang her number while I stepped into the elevator. One, two, three rings and she picked up.
"Yes?" her voice peered through the mic. "Hey young one, I'm just checking in. I'll be a bit busier than I thought so I'll be back late," I said. There was silence before she answered with a faint 'okay'. I sighed to myself before ending the call. "Damn it feels like I'm catering to a teen," I grumbled.
Amber
I was packing my gym bag with a change of clothes after the fight. Alexis had called me earlier to check up on me and I told her I was fine. She's been doing that since I've stepped foot on this soil again. It's starting to get to me though, she never used to call me every damn day. I sighed and slung the bag over my shoulder. I had a ride to the venue, and I was waiting on my coach. I locked the door behind me and got inside the car where the guard was waiting for me. "Just drive around, I'll give you directions soon," I said, slipping into the back seat. She nodded and pulled off into the main road.
Right on time my phone started to go off and I answered it. "Listen, I'll be a little late to the venue but your gear is in locker 24. Choose which you'll wear and I'll deal with the contract when I arrive." He sputtered all at once, I took all the information but I was waiting for one thing. "Can I get the name of the venue, please," I replied. "Oh, right, sorry. Masket Ignite, it's in the far east of Arroviel. Look, just search it up, I have to go." he said before hanging up. My eyes twitched before I took a breath. Maybe the driver may know where it is. "Hey, do you know by any chance where Masket Ignite is?" I questioned.
She nodded and I asked her to take me there. She took a full u-turn, passing the massive shopping district. Peering out the window, on the big screens all I was seeing was fashion brands, food ads and of course the new Monarch herself Vale. It's been a while since I've heard her voice... since I've seen her face to face. I was brought out of thought feeling my phone vibrate. I answered it without looking at the id. "What?"
"Young feisty Amber, how are you doing?" Viva's voice peered through the mic. "Okay, what do you want?" She chuckled, "why would you assume I would want something. I'm just calling to wish you luck, shame I couldn't have the flight there to watch in person." I rolled my eyes, "I appreciate the support Viv but I gotta go."
