The Byers Girl (On Pause until season 5)

Back Home: Filler Part

It's been two weeks since Y/n woke up in the hospital and today is the day she's able to go home after her injuries have healed.

It's dark outside with the wind picking up while
Joyce drives up the to Byers/Hopper house with Y/n in the passenger seat.
Joyce parks and gets out going to the passenger side door opening it for Y/n.
"Mom I'm okay" Y/n says smiling.
"I know but the nurse said that you should still take it easy" Joyce says helping her out of the vehicle.
"I know I'll take it easy don't worry" Y/n says smiling.

Joyce opens the front door, Y/n walks in looking around at the new house.
"It's nice" Y/n says smiling at her Mom.
"Thank you El and I decorated it" Joyce says smiling.
"I have to get to bed but your bedroom is down the hall second door to the right" Joyce says smiling at Y/n.
"Okay goodnight I love you" Y/n says hugging Joyce.
"Goodnight sweetheart I love you too" Joyce says smiling at her one last time before walking to her bedroom.

Y/n walks down the hall looking around seeing four doors.
When she sees the door to her bedroom, she walks closer opening it.
Walking into the room she sees a light blue wallpaper, band posters scattered on the walls, a double bed with blue sheets and her skateboard leaning against one of the walls beside her dresser. She walks towards the dresser seeing the friendship necklace Robin gave her years ago, she smiles holding the necklace in her hand.

She hears tapping at her window, confused she walks over to it seeing Steve on the other side smiling at her.
She opens the window shaking her head.
"What are you doing here?" she asks smiling.
"Welcome home" he says smiling.
She laughs shaking her head.
"What not gonna let me in?" he asks smirking.
She steps aside letting him in.
He steps into the room looking around.
"Nice room" he says looking at the many posters on the walls.
"Thanks" she says smiling at him.
"Want me to help?" he asks looking at the necklace.
"Oh sure thank you" she says smiling.

She turns around as Steve drapes the necklace across her chest attaching the latch on.
He lets go of the necklace debating saying something but decides against it.
Y/n can feel Steve's breath on the back of her neck causing chills to shoot down her spine.
"Done" he says stepping back.
She nods turning around looking at him nervously.
"Thanks" she says smiling at him.
They sit on the end of her bed in a comfortable silence.

"So when are you able to come back to work?" he asks.
"As long as I take it easy I'm able to start whenever,
I called Keith earlier today about going back" she says.
"When's your next shift?" he asks.
"Tomorrow" she says smiling.
"Nice I work tomorrow with Robin" he says smiling at her.
"Yeah I'll be there" she says smiling back.
They sit in a silence unsure of what to say.

Steve clears his throat looking at her.
"Hey so..remember when I told you about my dream?" he asks nervously.
"The six kids one?" she asks confused.
"Yeah that one" he says nodding.
"Yeah" she says smiling to herself.
"I left out one important detail" he says looking at her nervously.
She looks at him smiling softly.
"What?" she asks smiling.
He goes to speak but stops when he looks in her eyes,
What if she doesn't feel the same way?
What if she rejects him?
All these thoughts run through his head.

She looks at him confused seeing him zoned out.
"Steve..what is it?" she asks confused.
He snaps out of his thoughts looking at her sighing looking away shaking his head embarrassed.
"Never mind" he says clearing his throat.
"Steve, you can tell me anything" she says holding his arm smiling at him comfortingly.
He looks at her hand that's on his arm and sighs sadly looking away.
"It's fine" he says quietly.
"Are you okay?" she asks concerned.
He sighs nodding looking at her faking a smile.
She looks at him not convinced but decides to not say anything and let it be.
"Wanna stay the night?" she asks softly.
"Sure" he says quietly.

They lay in Y/n's bed getting comfortable facing one another. She places her head on her hands looking at him. He does the same looking at her.
"Goodnight Steve" she says quietly.
"Goodnight Y/n" he says back quietly.
Y/n closes her eyes letting sleep take over.
Steve watches her eyes close and her breathing slow down.
He smiles to himself seeing how peaceful she looks when she's asleep.
Reaching his hand up he brushes a loose piece of hair behind her ear before leaning over kissing her forehead. He smiles looking at her one more time before turning over falling asleep.
