My New Friends

A week passed since school started.

I became good friends with my roommates. Ophelia was my best friend and slept on the top bunk above me. Theodora was on the other bottom bunk and Lavinia slept on the other top bunk.

Most of the girls at school never talked to me. They were too busy studying all the time. Ophelia, Theodora or Dora, and Lavinia or Lav were the only other girls who didn't enjoy studying.

Ophelia was an energetic, morning bird. She woke everyone up on time and she always had a big smile that crinkled her green eyes.

Dora was the complete opposite of Ophelia. She hated mornings and tried to say in bed till she had to get up. She drew little comics when she couldn't sleep and sang off tune proudly. Her hair was a bright blue, she said she dyes her hair a different color every two months.

Lav was quiet in front of everyone, especially Huey which I found suspicious. Lav enjoyed listening to the birds sing and loved old poetry. She knitted her own school outfits. Apparently when she first arrived three years ago, the teachers tried to tell her off for it but gave up when her mother donated a large sum of money. She now wears whatever color sweater she wants. Usually you'll she her in a purple sweater.

For the first time I had friends that liked me. They were a little weird but being normal is boring. They let the boys sneak in to plan and hang out with me. They kept it a secret when I snuck out of the room at night.

I've definitely grown fond of them.
