The Rulers

I snuck out of bed with out waking up my roommates. They didn't talk, apparently tired from the flight here.

I quietly made my way down the stairs and avoided the steps the creaked on my way up. At the door was a guard that had fallen asleep against the wall. I walked pasted him and pushed open the door to the boys dorm.

I made my way up the stairs, which didn't creak at all. Once I made it in front of room two I softly knocked.

The door opened and I was pulled in quickly. I lost balance and landed in familiar arms. Looking up I saw Luc smiling at me and smiled back. He set me down on one of the bunk beds.

Their room had the same layout as ours. Two bunk beds in the corners, two trunks at the end of each bed for clothes, and a desk in the middle of each bed.

Lenny stepped in front of me and held out a pair of long socks. "Samantha Alston," he said in an ominous voice. "are you ready to become a Ruler?" He smiled creepily.

"A what?"

His creepy smile turned into a sweet one, "Oh, sweet, clueless Sammy." He patted my shoulder. "We are the Rulers." Huey and Aaron puffed out their chests and Luc subtly roll his eyes.

"A bit pretentious don't you think?" I smiled when their chest collapsed, pride a little hurt. "I mean 'the Rulers'? Sounds a little cocky, no offense."

Lenny sighed, "It also sounds epic! We use the name when we prank someone, kind of like an alias. It's why no has ever caught us!" He smiled proudly.

"Yet." Luc said from the corner of the room. "Lila suspects us already and actively is investigating us."

"Okay party pooper!" Huey shoved Luc. "We're careful and never leave any clues. Now back to the initiation!" Huey clapped.

Aaron forced me to my knees and Lenny stood in front of me with the socks in hand.

"Do you Samantha Alston promise to cause mayhem and chaos with us forever?"

"I guess."

"Do you promise to never tell anyone who we are?"

"Sure."

"Do you promise to never speak ill of the sacred knighting sock?"

"Hmm, it smells pretty bad though." He stared at me for a minute. "Fine."

"Do you promise to put pranking above schoolwork and chores?"

"Depends."

"Good enough!" He tapped each shoulder with the sock, "Welcome to the Rulers!"

Luc took me to his bunk and handed me a small Walkman with headphones. "I got all your vinyls on it for you."

"Thank you!" I hugged him and saw that he pulled out a plastic bag full of cassette tapes.

"No problem. You need your rest."

That night we ate snacks and made new plans for pranks. I laid on Luc's bed that was atop Lenny's as we plotted and schemed. I feel asleep that night in Luc's bed with him. Huey snored in the other top bunk and Aaron sleep talked all night in the bed under him.

I could get used to nights like this.
