Luc's POV:

I was sitting in the cafeteria, shoveling spaghettini into my mouth, and studying.

"Hey." I heard behind me.

I inwardly groaned, at least I think it was inwardly. I saw a group of girls walking towards me.

Last year I had flirted, taken out, and made out with each one of them. This year I tired to flirt with one girl, Tammy I think, but I just couldn't. I looked at her and saw a faceless orb. Every girl doesn't matter.

I used to be proud of my player streak. I also used to want every girl I saw. Now all I can think is how the girl in front of me isn't Sammy.

I tried to have a meaning less make out session with some blonde between second and third period. I started to kiss her and abruptly stopped. I just stood there and she continued to kiss down my neck. I thought of her as an annoying mosquito that was a substitute for Sammy.

I had successfully avoided my entourage until now. Now I was faced with a dozen desperate girls. Which was my dream... before Sammy.

"Where have you been?" A blonde asked as she sat next to me.

I just want to study.

A fake brunette hovered next to my ear, "We've been looking for you."

I stood up.

"Come play with me, big boy." Some green eyed girl said.

No, leave me alone.

Let's get away from the others." A blue eyed girl said. She started kissing my shoulder.

I felt gross.

I felt like I am suffocating.

I walked away.

"Where are you going?"

I finally found my voice, "I don't like any of you! Leave me alone!"

They stood there speechless. No one ever denied them anything.

I ran to the library.

I opened the doors and found my spot. It was a well lit corner hidden in the back of the library. Only me, the librarian Ms. Lester, and the boys knew about this spot.

Ms. Lester was the only person who knew we were the Rulers. She caught us back here drawing a plan for a prank. She said the only reason she worked her was because she loved the books. Ms. Lester believes this school needs some mischief to fight against the order around here.

I was controlling my breathing when I heard someone say my name.

I looked up and saw Sammy sitting in front of me. She put my school books in front of me. I didn't know I left them.

"Hey, I saw what happened in the cafeteria. I was about to come help but you ran out of there when I finally was able to get through to you." She sat next to me. "The boys told me you'd be here."

I nodded and took a shaky breath.

She opened her arms and I leaned into them. "You don't have to tell me who they were, but if you want to you can." She rubbed my shoulders.

I need to be closer.

I got out of her arms and straddled her lap. I grabbed her hands and put them around my waist before snuggling into her neck.

She was a lot smaller than me. She didn't complain instead she started rubbing my back and hugged me tighter.

"I'm sorry." I muttered into her neck. She shuttered.

"Why?"

"I'm crushing you."

She laughed quietly, I love her laugh. "You're fine. I'm glad you seek comfort in me."

"You calm me more than anyone else." I looked up at her and she smiled down at me. "Those girls were people I fooled around with last year." I muttered quietly, ashamed.

"I know everyone that sees me around you tells me." She rubbed my back.

I hid again in her neck. "I never did anything besides kiss. I promise." I sighed. "I don't like them at all. They are always coming after me."

"Why haven't you told them before?"

"They kept trying to push into a broom closet or against a wall before I could say anything."

She lifted my face, "If they are bothering you tell someone. Please."

"It's not that simple. All the girls have to is say it's the opposite and I'll be in trouble."

She huffed, "Okay." She changed the subject. "What were you studying earlier?"

I smiled at her attempt to cheer me up, "Latin."

"Say something in Latin for me."

I moved off her and laid down with my head in her lap. "Let me think." I sat there for a minute before deciding to say it. "Si cognoverit frater tuus quid pergat caput meum cum te videro, occidit me."

She giggled, "What does that mean?"

"Can't remember." I smiled up at her.

She shrugged and ran her fingers through my hair.

We fell asleep and missed the rest of our class for today. It was okay, skipping was never a big deal unless Lila was patrolling the halls and caught you.

I was really stressed about school and the girls. Sammy came along and made me forget about it all. I need to tell Lenny before he finds out himself. I mean the guy isn't completely stupid.
