(King Candy's POV)
I stand in my royal box, ready to start the race. I have my gloves, helmet, and goggles on. I try to spot (Y/n) in the crowd, but she hasn't arrived yet. I look at the words on my necklace for a moment. I still feel bad for lying to her, but if she finds out the truth, she may never forgive me. I decide to focus on the race.
"My sweet subjects," I announce. "I can without a pinch of hesitation assure you that I have never been so happy in all my life to say the following words: Let the Random Roster Race commence!"
I pull a rope, unraveling a banner from my box, and I slide down the banner, landing in my kart. A marshmallow waves the checkered flag, and I speed off with the other racers.
(Third Person POV)
Vanellope is driving her kart to the race, with Ralph, (Y/n), and Felix riding on the back of it.
"Okay, remember, you don't have to win. Just cross that finish line, and you'll be a real racer," Ralph tells Vanellope.
"I'm already a real racer," she responds.
(Y/n), Felix, and Ralph hop off the kart.
"And I'm going to win," she adds.
She is about to drive off when she remembers what (Y/n) said about wanting to be in the race, and she looks at (Y/n).
"Hey, (Y/n), care to join me?" she asks.
(Y/n) looks at Vanellope with surprise and excitement.
"Are you serious?" she asks.
"Dead serious," Vanellope replies.
"In that case, count me in!" (Y/n) says as hops onto the back of the kart.
Her knees are on either side of the driver's seat, so Vanellope can be more comfortable, and she holds on for dear life, knowing that they are going to go fast. Vanellope then speeds across the starting line.
(Y/n's POV)
This has to be one of the coolest days of my life! The feeling of riding through the racecourse in Sugar Rush is so amazing! Vanellope and I manage to pass by most of the racers. The only ones we have to pass by left are Taffyta, Rancis, Candlehead, and, of course, King Candy. We are now driving up a colossal layer cake that has huge cherries, catching up to Taffyta and her friends. Suddenly, Candlehead lights the stems on the cherries with her kart's candles! One by one, the cherries explode as Vanellope glitches, trying to avoid the blasts.
"I told you. You're just an accident waiting to happen," Taffyta shouts to Vanellope.
However, as we shoot into a giant straw, Vanellope suddenly glitches past the trio of bullies, and we are now driving backwards! We all scream as the tunnel spits us out over the area, and I keep a death grip on the kart. While Taffyta, Candlehead, and Rancis don't make it to the other side, Vanellope and I land hard on the ramp.
"What in the world was that?!" I shout, mostly to myself.
"All right. Gotta keep it under control. No more glitching," Vanellope tells herself.
"You're doing great, kiddo! All you have to do now is pass King Candy!" I tell her.
We make it to an ice cream mountain, and I can see Candy up ahead. As we pass by him, I see him look at us and lift up his goggles in disbelief. He seems even more shocked that I'm riding with Vanellope. After a few seconds, we hear wood break and Candy shout, and we look behind us to see that he's no longer behind us.
Where did he go? I think.
We enter a nougat mine, and we yell with excitement as we ride downhill. A couple seconds later, I hear what sounds like another kart. I look to see Candy on another track, and he drives off that track to come onto the track we're on!
"Vanellope, look out!" I yell.
Too late. Candy rear-ends Vanellope's kart so hard that she spins out, and the front of Vanellope's kart ends up on his hood.
"Get off of my track!" he yells at Vanellope.
Vanellope tries to shift and get off of his hood, but is unable to.
"What are you, crazy?!" she shouts.
Candy pulls his gear stick out of its place and puts it on the gas pedal so his kart will keep going. He then stands up and breaks the antenna off of his kart.
"I forbid you to cross that finish line!" he says, and whacks at her.
"Candy, what do you think you're doing?!" I yell.
This is not the same man I fell in love with. He was such a sweet guy when I met him, but now he's insane! He manages to break Vanellope's windshield, and Vanellope takes the opportunity to grab the antenna. She glitches like crazy as she and Candy wrestle for control of the antenna.
"I'm not letting you undo all my hard work!" he shouts.
Vanellope's glitch causes Candy to glitch, too, but I notice something strange about him as he glitches. He's glitching into someone else. Someone familiar. I squint at him as I try to remember where I've seen him before. After a few seconds, when I'm able to get a good look at him, my eyes widen in shock and horror as I remember!
"Turbo!" I shout fearfully.
