~Crystal's POV~

I was 2 hours into my shift when the restaurant door opened, and Minho stepped in with his date. She was beautiful, just as he described her, but there was a big problem.

I knew who she was.

I dreaded the fact that I recognised her, and that she wasn't that amazing person Minho described her to be. If she were, I definitely wouldn't have had this burning in my chest and these useless thoughts in my mind that kept running around, saying Why her? Why her? I'm better.

These thoughts are useless anyway. It doesn't matter if she's nice or not, or if she didn't use to be, anyway. Minho picked her and didn't like me. He made it clear two months ago, and I should be over him already. I'm just making myself suffer.

Maybe she's changed.

Her name was Julia, and she was now even more beautiful than she was when we were kids. She's grown up to be elegant, she looked like a model, just as her mother always claimed she'll be. She must be happy now.

Minho's arm was around her waist when one of the waiters guided them to their reserved table, and I became apprehensive about having to serve them. What if she would recognise me too?

I contemplated asking one of my co-workers to take care of them in my stead, but the restaurant was small. Minho was sure to see me serve other tables. It would never work.

Besides, I promised him I'll take care of them the best I could.

I would've never invited him if I'd known Julia was his date.

Fuck.

Maybe I can fake becoming sick. I'll just go to the bathroom and force two fingers down my throat to throw up, then I'll tell my boss I feel like shit, and he'll let me go home, and I won't have to serve Minho and Julia.

"Table 8 is waiting for you." My co-worker nudged me, and I reluctantly picked up two menus and headed over to their table.

Maybe she wouldn't recognise me. It will be okay.

"Good evening, and welcome." I smiled widely, handing the two their menus. Minho smiled back at me, and Julia didn't raise her gaze, which I was grateful for. Thank God she's still spoiled rotten. "Should I bring you something to drink while you consult our menu?"

"What would you recommend?" Minho asked, and pretended not to know me, and I played along.

"For you, sir, a glass of Pinot Noir would be appropriate to start the evening with. As for your date-"

"A martini, thanks." She rudely interrupted me, still not looking my way, so I blurted out a "Sure, coming right away." and I quickly left the table.

~Minho's POV~

"A martini, thanks." Julia spoke hastily, interrupting Crystal. That made me frown. She hasn't even looked at her since she brought us the menus, and that was a red flag in my book – treating waiters as if they are undeserving of being looked at.

"Sure, coming right away." Crystal smiled unaffected and left, which made me wonder how many times she had to deal with rude customers in this place.

Thinking of it, this is actually the first time I see where Crystal works. The place looks nice, the atmosphere is cosy, and it fits her. I can spot the manager behind the counter instructing another waiter to do something, and I wonder if it's the same guy I spoke to all these months ago when Crystal was sick and I took care of her.

"So, Minho, I wasn't expecting you to bring me to this kind of place." Julia spoke, interrupting my train of thoughts.

I smiled and looked at her. She was stunning, I noticed that the first time we met too, and we seemed to get along okay enough through text, but somehow the way she was behaving was off-putting, and I kept glancing at Crystal. She was smiling while serving other tables, and she was beautiful.
