"How can I help you?" The ruff deep voice of the smith made me jump. "Were you admiring my brother?"

If he is calling him brother then he must be a beast too. "No... I was looking at the thing in his hand."

The smith looked over at the old woman who was now talking to him. "Ah, yes. He calves rocks and sometimes he finds more than a rock. What can I do for you?"

I turned to him and got a nose full of his scent. The smell of wood and fur that encompassed him made me feel like I was at home, he smelled like my den. "I have these... I haven't been able to have them sharpened in some time."

Pulling out the set of leather working tools that needed repair, I dropped them as the man I thought was the dragon walked past with the old woman. He looked over at me before disappearing behind a building. Did he see me? Did he know what I am?  My head was starting to feel strange, and I cursed my problems.

The smith picked up my tools. "I can do that for you. It will be.... one silver. Are you alright?"

I turned back to him and knew my face was as pale as it felt. "I will be fine, I get lightheaded."

The smith pointed at the tall man next to the waggon. "Go see Eric there. He may be able to help you."

"I don't have a lot of money."

The man grinned and said. "Tell him Kyros said you needed help. He will give you a good price, or I'll hit him."

I eyed the thick arms of the man and chuckled. "Thank you, Kyros."

"Come back after you have seen him and we will see what we can do for your tools."

I nodded and walked towards the waggon. The small lady watched me come over and smiled. "How can we help you?" Her voice sounded soft and kind in stark contrast to her scent.

She smelt like a Rat, all fur and fear. "Kyros said Eric could help me."

The woman looked to the smith and then nodded. "Can you wait a moment?"

"Of course." I stepped back and watched the line thin a little.

"Eric this person needs assistance." The Rat said to the tall man.

Eric smiled at me and I got the feeling he knew what I was. The way, the lady eyed me told me she knew too. She rubbed her side for the sixth time and turned to the woman waving a spoon in front of her.

Eric walked me to the front of the waggon and gestured for me to get in. I did and I sat on the bed. The whole wagon smelt of the burning smell and the rat. "Right then what is the trouble?"

"I get lightheaded now and then.... sometimes I pass out."

He came closer and looked into my eyes. Then he pressed his fingers to my neck. "You eat a lot of meat?"
