"We should probably leave." Leafy said suddenly.

"What? Why?" Firey asked.

"Liferingy and Lifesaver are mad at you." Leafy replied.
"But I didn't do anything! Plus, two people died. Shouldn't we revive them before running off? Who knows how long it'll be until we find a recovery center!"

"I dunno Firey. Other people could revive them, right?"

Firey thought for a second before letting out a sigh. "You're right...I guess. Do we even have a boat though?"

"Yup, thanks to my wonderful craftsmanship!" Leafy held Firey's hand. They walked over to the edge of the island where the boat laid, only to find it covered in mold.

"Oh. That's no good." Leafy said.

"Yeah...we can't use this. What'll we do now?" Firey asked her.

"Um...well...we could...swim?"

"Leafy, I can't swim."

"Uhh..."

"Is your friend allergic to water? Well, try our floaty bubbles! You can float across the water with ease while encased in a bubble. It's also fireproof!"

Firey stepped into the ad. "Hey! I'm allergic to water! Give us a bubble!"

"Well, it'll cost ya-"

Firey handed the yellow advertiser a stack of cash. "Take it!" He shouted before snatching away the bubble and walking out.

Firey stepped inside the bubble. The bubble seemed to cancel out all the noise around him. The silence was uncomfortable, but Leafy threw him a smile to calm him down. She maintained that smile as she pushed him across the water.

It felt pretty nice, floating atop the vast ocean with Leafy by his side, without the stress of noise or competition or drama or monsters. The excitement was nice but the peace was even better.

As Firey snapped out of his own thoughts, he noticed Leafy climbing inside his bubble.

"Hiya Firey! All this swimming has gotten a little boring," Leafy sat down with her knees to her chest. "And I have a pretty fun idea!"

Firey looked at her, curious.

Leafy smiled before pushing the bubble down into the water. Firey was skittish entering the water for the first time. Leafy held his hand, melting his worries away. Paper fish kissed the bubble, and Firey stared in awe.

"I've never gotten this close to a fish before." Firey said.

"There's a first time for everything!" Leafy replied. She huddled closer to Firey, as close as she could without burning alive, and the two rested in each other's company, floating aimlessly through the water. The muffled sounds of the ocean circled them, filling the silence. After a while, they slowly floated towards the surface. Firey continued to stare into the ocean even as they escaped it's hole.

"Leafy...thank you for showing me that." Firey said, still not looking into her eyes. Leafy said nothing, simply giving him a gentle hand-kiss.

[Update]

Firey stared at his hand for a while, not sure if the gesture was romantic or platonic. Regardless, it was pretty sweet. Suddenly the bubble stopped moving, being caught on a piece of land.

"Wait...I didn't see this island before," Leafy said. "We passed by here and that island definitely wasn't there."

"Really? Should we check it out?" Firey asked.

"I guess..." Leafy replied.

The two of them stepped out of the bubble and stepped across the sandy terrain. Beyond the beach was a house, surrounded by a grassy field with origami animals stepped across. It was a single story, two bedroom home. Perfect for the couple to crash in for the day.

The house was fully furnished, with a couch sitting between two coffee tables, and even a TV that was already running. The TV portrayed an advertisement for Dream Island, featuring...

Leafy...
and Firey.

Neither of them remembered recording the advertisement, and they watched as their replicas invited the public to their undying paradise. A paradise the couple never truly got to experience together...

The TV suddenly shut off, and the floor creaked loudly.

"Wow, it is hot in here...and what's all that noise?" Leafy said, looking around nervously.

"What're you talking about? It's freezing in here!" Firey replied, holding Leafy's hand to warm his own. Leafy's hands were sweaty. How could the room be hot and cold at the same time?

The floor's creaking began to sound like a hungry stomach, desperately awaiting its supper. The sound made the couple anxious. Firey pulled Leafy's hand towards the front door and turned the knob. Somehow it had been locked from the other side.

Leafy gulped. "That's not good."

The heat began to burn Leafy's surface and the cold began to lower Firey's flame. It was so hot and so cold, and the house was hungry. And as the two died in the heat and the cold...

The house ate them.

"Wow Flower, you're great at bluffing!" Gelatin said as he counted a stack of cash.

Flower took a sip of cider. "I learned from the best!"

"Aw, you think I'm the best?" Gelatin asked.

"Nah, I was talking about Lollipop. But you're the second best."

Gelatin still appreciated the compliment and drank his last bit of cider. "I think we've had a good time at the casino. Shall we keep traveling?"

"Yeah! Let's go." Flower grabbed Gelatin's hand and dragged him to the boat. The boat had been bought clear of merchandise, with all the meat being sold-out and only one sweater standing next to empty hangers. Gelatin sat in the driver's seat, with Flower right next to him.

Flower crossed her legs and laid back in the seat. "This has been our best business trip ever!"

"This is the only business trip we've been on."

Gelatin and Flower floated across the water, with Flower whistling simple tunes to make the travel less mundane. That didn't work too well though, with the awkward silence and the empty space surrounding them.

Suddenly, the salty smell of the sea was overtaken by the smell of smoke and citrus.

"Flower...do you smell that?" Gelatin asked.

"Yeah, kinda. It's prolly nothing though." Flower replied with a shrug.

Gelatin tried to ignore the smell, but his curiosity got to him. He found himself following the smell with his vehicle. He parked the boat on an island and continued to trace the smell. Flower reluctantly followed behind.

"Gelatin, where are we going?" Flower asked.

"I...don't know. I recognize that smell though and it's bugging me." He continued walking until the sand turned to grass, and they found the source of the smell. A house that had burned down, its rooms and walls mostly collapsed. A TV somehow survived, and it cried in a glitchy voice:

"The house can't eat fire."

"Look Flower! He's waking up!"

Firey awoke to Gelatin, Flower, and Leafy leaning over him.

"They recovered us Firey! We're alive!" Leafy pulled Firey off the ground and dusted him off. Firey couldn't shake his feeling of unease though. Being brought back to life always threw him off a bit, but this time it was...different.

He chose to ignore it. For now.
