Tied Up

The next day, when you went to the restaurant, the only person that you saw there was Mahiru. She was holding a tray in her hands and seemed to be contemplating something. Her eyes landed on you as soon as you walked it.

"Ah, nice timing! I've been waiting for anybody to come by at a time like this," she said.

"Huh? What do you mean?" You asked.

"Um, I was thinking about delivering this..."

She showed you what was on the tray: a piece of toast, a bottle of milk, and two small containers filled with what you assumed was butter or something similar.

"And... who would you need to deliver that to?" You suddenly remembered when Nekomaru and Kazuichi said that they tied up Nagito. You didn't really believe them, but you got more and more suspicious as the days passed since he was nowhere to be seen. "Wait... is that for Nagito?"

"I mean... if we just leave him all tied up, he's gonna starve... Like... how long are they planning to continue this?"

"Well, we can't keep him tied up forever. That's just not possible, and it's also pretty cruel..."

"... Yeah, that's what I thought at first. But maybe it's better if he was tied up forever."

"Huh? But why?"

"I actually went to see Nagito earlier. I kindly brought him breakfast... And then... listen to this! He seriously pisses me off! He said he doesn't like rice so he wanted toast instead! Doesn't he understand the situation he's in right now!?"

"Oh... So, you want me to do it for you?"

"Oh, yes, please!"

She quickly pushed the tray in your hand and scurried off, not giving you time to say anything else. You sighed and went to the old building where the party was held, which was where Nagito was supposedly tied up. You were about to walk down the hall when Monomi popped up.

"No, no, no! This old building is being renovated! You can't go inside!" She said.

"But... Nagito's inside," you pointed out.

"Ha-wa!? You know about it too,
L/N-san!? C-Cuz... Nidai-san and Soda-san earnestly told me that 'Monomi's the only one we can rely on'... And... it's true that Komaeda needs to reflect on his actions..."

"Well... I came here to give food to Nagito. Wouldn't it count as a murder if he starved to death?"

"S-Starve... Ha-wa-wa-wa-wa!"

"So... is it okay if I go inside?"

"Y-Yes! Make sure you tell him to chew thoroughly before he swallows!"

With that, Monomi left. You walked down the halls until you found the door that you were looking for. You took a deep breath and opened the door. On the floor was Nagito, his arms and legs bound, and a big smile on his face.

"... Y/N-chan?" He uttered, "Ah, could it be...? Did you take time out of your busy day to bring some food to little old me? Wow, I'm so happy! As you can see, I can't exactly greet you with my full hospitality... but feel free to relax."

"Ah... hi, Nagito... It's been a while..." You said, kneeling down to his side.

You offered him a piece of toast, to which he gratefully accepted. It was a bit awkward since he was lying on his side, but you made it work. When you were done, you stood up and started to leave, but Nagito stopped you.

"Hey, Y/N-chan? If it isn't too much to ask, can I ask you a favor?" He asked, the smile on his face not faltering.

"Um... sure...?" You replied hesitantly.

"Great! So... could you untie me?"

"... But... why...? If the others felt the need to tie you up, then it's probably for the best..."

"Everyone else is scared! They may be Ultimates, but they can't accept the truth. I was just trying to get the killing game going. Besides, would you really leave me here all by myself in this cold, dreary room? What if you guys forget about me? I'll rot away until I'm nothing but a skeleton. Though... I suppose that would only make me a stepping stone for hope!"

His words hit you hard. Yes, he may be crazy, but you couldn't just leave him there... So, against your better judgment, you bent back down and started to untie him. Nagito smirked, his manipulation working perfectly.
