Men's conversations

The sun was dipping towards the horizon when Derek Morgan and Spencer Reid arrived at their shared room at the motel. After Spencer decided to move in with Derek to find space for his thoughts about his love confession, the atmosphere between the two men was full of ease.

Derek collapsed onto his bed and grinned at Spencer. "So, how does it feel to live with me, my friend?"

Spencer raised an eyebrow and sighed slightly. "It's nice, but it's not about me staying with you, it's about me having a quiet place to think."

Derek laughed mischievously. "Sure, sure. A quiet place to think about JJ and your wild romantic fantasies."

Spencer rolled his eyes. "You're really making fun of this, aren't you?"

Derek placed a theatrical hand over his heart. "Oh, my dear Reid, you have my deepest sympathy. It's really hard to be secretly in love with a pretty colleague, isn't it?"

Spencer smiled despite himself. "You really know how to take advantage of an embarrassing situation, don't you?"

"Hey, you gotta admit, you've always been the expert at awkward moments," Derek continued to tease.

Spencer sighed and sat on the bed. "I'm really worried about how JJ will react if I tell her."

Derek dropped his joking tone and became serious. "Hey, Reid, I told you before, be honest. No matter how she reacts, you'll get through this."

Spencer nodded thoughtfully. "I know. It's just... It's hard to change the dynamic we have."

Derek put a hand on his shoulder. "I understand that, but change is sometimes inevitable. Maybe it won't be easy, but it might be worth it."

Spencer smiled slightly. "Thank you, Derek. I appreciate your support."

"No problem, my friend. Now, before you get too deep into your thoughts, maybe let's play a game of poker. A little distraction might do you some good," Derek suggested.

Spencer nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good idea. Let's play."

And so the two men continued their manly conversation as they played cards and the hours passed. Amid teasing and serious moments, Spencer found in Derek's support and friendship a source of strength to face his feelings for JJ.
