A gentle knock on the door broke the silence in the room and Spencer opened the door to see JJ standing at the threshold. Her eyes were worried, and she seemed worried after he ran away so unexpectedly.

"Hey, Spencer, I just wanted to make sure you were okay," JJ said quietly.

Spencer smiled slightly. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just... surprised."

JJ nodded understandingly. "I understand that. It was sudden, and I apologize if it overwhelmed you."

He shook his head. "No, it's not your fault. I just should have been more prepared."

JJ smiled encouragingly. "It's okay, really. I know it was unexpected. And well, everyone gets excited during their first kiss."

Spencer's eyes widened in surprise. "How...how did you know?"

JJ laughed lightly. "I've studied enough criminology to recognize the signs. Besides, I've known you for a while, Spencer."

He smiled slightly embarrassed. "Yeah, I guess you did."

JJ became serious. "If you ever want to talk about anything, I'm here. Whether it's about your feelings or anything else. You can come to me anytime."

Spencer felt touched by her care. "Thanks, JJ. I really appreciate it."

She nodded and smiled. "You're welcome. Now I'd better go before Penelope starts to worry."

Spencer nodded in agreement. "Yes, go ahead. And thank you for understanding."

JJ smiled before making her way back to her room. She felt that things had changed between her and Spencer, but she was ready to accept the challenges that life threw at them. As she opened the door to her own room, she felt confident that their friendship could transform into something even more meaningful.
