Haru: "Come on Haru. Just a few more minutes.." You had been studying together for the past two hours. You could tell Haru was beginning to tire, but tomorrow you had the biggest test you guys would have in their high school careers and you weren't willing to let him give up just yet. After some hardcore convincing, and promising you would make him dinner after you were finished he finally gave in. "That wasn't so hard.." You thought. But now the only thing on your mind was the fact you had no clue how to food mackerel and that was what he wanted. Oh well. You would learn one way or another.
After another hour of studying you both threw your books to the side, and sighed in relief. You were about as prepared as you could get, and were happy with how it turned out. Your feet collided with the floor as you climbed off his bed. "Now, let me go fix up dinner." The look in his eyes made your heart flutter. He looked so cute. Even though he was so emotionless you could see everything through the way his eyes sparkled. You shook your head, and ridded yourself of the thoughts.
As you got yourself into the kitchen, you leaned over the counter. There was no way you were in love with Haru. Your bestfriend since second grade. But the more you thought about it the more it made sense. The way your heart fluttered every time you looked at him. How every time his hand brushed up against you in the slightest way your face would go red. It all made sense now. You had been standing there for a few moments and Haru noticed. "You okay, (y/n)?" He called from the other room. You jumped slightly, and turned, scratching your head slightly. "Absolutely fine. Just got lost in my thoughts." Before long you heard his footsteps walking into the kitchen. "Thinking about what?" You rolled your eyes and turned away. "Nothing.." You said lightly. "Just help me out this making this." You said as you swung the mackerel in his face. He happily obliged to your request.
The rest of the night was purely awkward on your account. Even though Haru didn't notice once. It was odd. Now you knew how it felt to be utterly in love with someone you couldn't have.
Makoto: "Do you want to do to sleep soon?" Makoto said as he looked down at you. Your eyes were half lidded as you stared blankly at the tv screen. This was a look that Makoto had come to know. Whenever you got even slightly tired you got this dead kind of look in your eyes, like you were a zombie or something. Honestly, it was scary at times. You shook your head slightly as you looked up at him. "I want to finish the movie, then I'll go to bed." Makoto smiled, and shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever you wish."
A half hour later Makoto had began to notice your breathing had gotten lighter. He stole another glance down at you. Your head had fallen into his lap ten minutes before, and ever since then your sweet voice had not cracked the silence. Your eyes now were held shut, and not a movement struck your body. "I knew you were going to fall asleep. " Makoto's hand came down on your head to gently run his fingers through your hair. It was soft under his touch, and he found himself smiling as the image of you ran through his mind. Without realizing his feelings, his heart began to pump only a little bit faster. When he noticed he simply smiled. "You do have a way of making me fall for you, y/n."
He readjusted your position to let you lay down on the bed as he got up. He would give you space for the night, and take the couch. Makoto maneuvered his way through the darkened house to the living room. Throughout the whole night thoughts ran through his head on why he would feel this way. But it was obvious. You were perfect. The way your hair slightly fell into your eyes, the way you got so easily excited over things you loved, the way you would grab his hand whenever you were scared or nervous. Everything about you was special. "No wonder.." He mumbled as he slowly drifted asleep.
Nagisa: "God damn it, Nagisa." You yelled as he accidently poured his drink onto you. You two had been sitting on the couch watching your favorite movie, and he always got overly excited in this particular scene. It was when the main character died, and even though you two had seen it a million times he still got crazy when it came on. He hoped up from the couch, and looked at you with eyes filled with worry. "I'm so sorry y/n-chan! I didn't mean to!" You stood from the couch, and loosely pulled at your wet clothes. "It's fine, Nagisa. I'm just going to go clean up.." He nodded his head rapidly as his eyes scanned you. "I'll get you a different pair of clothes!" As you walked out of the living room, you could see his small frame scrambling to his own room to gather clothes.
Not three minutes after you had went into the bathroom, there was a knock on the door. You let him in even though you had discarded half of the clothes that were on your body. He didn't look at you any differently as he handed you the clothes. He only apologized. You slipped into the clothing with out a word and walked out. He sat on the couch silently, but you ignored it and walked to the kitchen to grab a drink.
You had been in love with Nagisa for three years now, and he knew that. The only problem was, was that he didn't feel the same. You were constantly chasing after a heart that would never consider you. You were his best friend, and it was destined to stay like that forever. You couldn't say you minded. Even after the embarrassing fighting over how much you loved him, it didn't ruin your friendship and you were so thankful for that. Even though you constantly hurt because of it.
It was torture having to sit in his home with his hands constantly coming out to touch you but in the most casual way possible. You wanted him to look at you the same way you looked at him but it was never going to happen. You walked back into the living room, a dull expression on your face. He was as happy as ever, patting the seat next to him for you to sit. As you sat his head came down onto your shoulder, and the movie was resumed. "I love you, you know that y/n?" Your heart fluttered. "You put up with so much stuff, and you never mind. You're the best friend someone like me could ask for." You settled as you heard the words once again. "Yeah, you sure are lucky."
You spent the rest of the night with your best friend, hurting. Hurting and without him ever even noticing.
Rei: Rei smiled at you as he saw you waving at him through the fence of the pool. Today was Friday which meant today was the day you guys would walk home together, and possibly go to one of your favorite restaurants. It had been a couple weeks since you guys had done that, and Rei secretly wished that today would be the day that you did. Rei got out of the pool, his body glistening from the water droplets still remaining on his body. You walked into the pool area, and greeted him. You seemed happier than usual and Rei couldn't wait to hear all about it.
After getting dressed, he came back out and found you talking to Gou. You seemed more than energetic. He wondered why, but he would know sooner than later. It didn't take you guys long to walk from the school to your favorite restaurant. You both ordered the same as you always get and then the story began.
They explained how the guy they liked had expressed his feelings for them today, and that they had a date within the next couple of days. Rei sat smiling, and being as energetic about their story as they were. But on the inside every ounce of him was crumbling.
Rei had been in love with this person since they had met. Their stunning personality was everything to him, and he couldn't imagine his life without them now. The simple thought of them being help in someone elses arms made him want to break down right on the spot. He tried his hardest to conceal all feelings but it became way to hard. After an hour of hearing their story, he faked a phone call from his mind to get out of their get together.
They questioned, but eventually let him go. It was disappointing they wouldn't be able to go back to one of their places tonight to have their usual Friday night movie session. Rei just couldn't handle it. As soon as he got home, he broke. A few tears fell from his eyes. He didn't mean to fall so hard for them but it just happened and now every chance was falling from his grip. He laid in his bed for the rest of the night thinking about scenarios that could have played out. The main thing he kept repeating was,
"If only I had been the one to ask them.."
