Chapter Thiry Eight

ANOTHER HAPPY LANDING

Alina pressed the buttons to the elevator frantically. The ship shook with another explosion. "R2, activate elevator 3224" Anakin instructed.

The ship shook once more and tilted until it was in a downward spiral, Alina grabbed onto a wall to keep herself from slipping. As the doors to the elevator opened. They climbed into the shaft, running across it when the ship began to level itself out again.  With nothing to hold on to this time, the five began to slip, grabbing onto each other. Anakin managed to grab into an exposed wire, stopping them from falling all the way down.

Alina clung to her brother's waist tightly. A little bit below her the chancellor clung to Anakin's foot. Sylvie has managed to grab onto Obi-Wan's leg. Her Master chose this time to wake up, he let out a startled noise and held onto Anakin tighter when he saw his surroundings. "Easy, we're in a bit of a situation here" Anakin said.

"Did I miss something?" Obi-Wan asked. "Good news: We beat Count Dooku. Bad news... well, you can see the bad news" Alina said.

"Hold on. What is that?" Anakin asked. Alina looked up to see the elevator rushing down towards them. She let out a loud string of curses in basic, huttese and mando'a. "R2. R2, shut down the elevator!" Anakin ordered.

"Too late, jump!" Obi-Wan ordered. Anakin quickly let the wire go, sending all five of them into a freefall. The Jedi reached for their cables, wrapping them around a ledge. The Chancellor grabbed Obi-Wan as they used toe ledge to swing through an open door. The elevator sped past them, nearly crushing them.

"Let's see if we can find something in the hanger bay that's still flyable" Obi-Wan suggested as they got to their feet. "R2, get down here" Anakin instructed. "R2, do you copy?" The astromech beeped a quick response. The Jedi and the Chancellor ran down the hallway towards the hanger bay when they were stopped in their tracks by a see through white light that surrounded them.

"Ray shields" Anakin said. "Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this" Obi-Wan said. "The ray shield we're currently trapped in says otherwise" Sylvie said. "I say patience" Anakin said. "Patience? I didn't realise you had that word in your vocabulary Ani" Alina said. The Jedi knight shot his sister a look "That's coming from you?" He asked. "I am way more patient than you" The padawan said matter of factly.

"The point is, R2 will be along in a few moments and then he'll release the ray shields" Anakin explained. "Not to undervalue R2 but I think we need a better plan" Sylvie said. The door hissed open and the astromech ran in screaming before slamming into the wall. He beeped and whirred as he spun around before righting himself. "See, no problem" Anakin said.

Two destroyers rolled in. Closely followed by three B2 and B1 battle droids. "Don't move" one of the B2s ordered, pointing a blaster at R2. The astromech zapped its hand in response. The B2 kicked him, causing him to fall to the ground "See, no problem" Alina said sarcastically.

With their weapons taken away from them and hands behind their backs, the droids led the five into the bridge where General Grievous awaited them. "Ah yes, the negotiators. General Kenobi, General Kryze, we've been waiting for you" he said. "Excuse me" a B1 said as it walked past Obi-Wan. "That wasn't much of a rescue" The cyborg mused as the B1 handed him the lightsabers.

General Grievous snatched them from its hand "You're welcome" The B1 muttered. The cyborg's gaze shifted to Anakin "Anakin Skywalker. I was expecting someone with your reputation to be a little... older" he marched up to the Jedi. "General Grievous you're shorter than I expected" Anakin responded cooly. "Jedi scum" Grievous sneered, follow d by a cough. Alina snickered, causing his attention to turn to her.
