"'Tenebris cadit, vincit omnia.' The darkness within my soul, listen to my call. Bind him to me. Let his ego fall. Hmm... This should be enough to test whether what the book said was true. Chapter 2, page 12. It states to say those words, and the dark will be at your service. I wonder, is that true?" Leah felt giggles forming in her mouth, but she held them back. Suddenly, Leo's school bag felt heavier, and his shoulders fell right after he stood up. "W...What? What was that? My bag, I remember, was light. Why does it feel so heavy?" Leo tried to stand up, but his efforts were futile. "Well, it seems Mr. Reeds is so weak that he can't even lift his backpack on his shoulders. Hey Leo? Do you want me to help you carry that backpack of yours? I guarantee you, it will be simply easy for me." Sean mocked Leo.
Leo couldn't bear the embarrassment anymore. "I'll get back at both of you for this." He left his bag on the floor and ran away. Leah was sitting there and relishing the look on his dumbfounded face. She felt sorry that the scene lasted for a few minutes only. The deed was fun, and Leah enjoyed it. 'I should get rid of the trick I used on him.' "Regressus." With that, Leah focused her attention on Sean, who couldn't seem to control his laughter. "Don't look at me like with that 'I'll hit you.' look in your eyes. You've got to admit that was funny." Sean continued with his laughter. "The show was indeed funny. Should we get back at everyone who treated us terribly? I mean, they should receive their retribution. It's a saying, 'Karma is a female dog.' When karma bites back at them, they'll realise their foolishness. Until then, we'll watch them bring ruin to each other. What do you think?" Leah asked.
"You seem to have read my mind. Sure. Let's start with Emilia once we're done with Leo. After all, the real one who broke me was her. I want to expose her fake behaviour of acting like green tea and white lotus. She dated me only because she thought it was fun. My foot. She has to pay the price. What's your standpoint?" Sean looked as if he wanted to tear Emilia apart. "Whatever you wish for. She'll get what's coming for her. We have to be patient and wait. When the time comes, hell will unravel itself upon her." Leah said. "Leah, I don't know why I feel that you've changed, not just about the endurance part. The way you look at others has also changed. It's as if you've been reborn into a different person. Are you still going to be my best friend? I worry." Sean looked at Leah with worrisome eyes.
"Do you trust me, Sean? If you do, then you won't worry about anything. Everything will come to pass with time. All that is lost and all found will be worth millions more. The past doesn't define our future, nor who we are present. I loved so many things. I worked hard for them in the past. I'll still work hard. But, to achieve those things, whatever may cause me to alter, I'll break them all." One could see the determination in Leah's eyes as she said those words. "If it's you, I don't have any worries or fears. But if it's you, I'll also be left unsure. I thought I knew you. But I suppose I didn't know you too well. If I did, I'd have noticed any changes within you." Sean felt sad. "Don't put down yourself. This is my choice. This is the road I decided to tread upon. And Sean, never once doubt yourself. My decision cannot be altered. You already knew I was quite a wild and stubborn one."Leah assured him.
The two sat down for classes. In the break time, a girl slightly shorter than Leah walked up to Sean. "Looked when the cat dropped by? I thought after what Leo did to your family, you..." Emilia was cut off with a slap on her left cheek. "Who has the guts to do that? Come towards the front of me. If you apologise, I might be kind enough to spare your hands. But, since you need to be punished for your frivolous actions, your legs will be broken." the girl yelled. "Emilia, my darling. I didn't know you were kind enough to spare my hands." Leah sneered, "Hmm... We're during lunch break. No one is near this side of the campus except us three. No one would know if you got injured. If I cripple you, would you seek revenge on me?"
Emilia was so frightened that she almost lost her footing. "Of course. I would seek revenge on you. I'm the princess of the Mendel family. My father won't let me be rolled over. If you hurt me, your entire family will pay the price." "Really? Why don't we find out?"Leah pulled out her phone from her trousers, dialled a number and put it on speaker. "Dad." "Leah. How's my girl doing?" Her father's voice sounded at the other end of the phone. "Emilia was bugging Sean, so I slapped her, and now, she wants to cripple me," Leah complained. "Emilia. The girl from the Mendel family. She's just some small fry. The Mendel wants to do a project with the Serpentine tomorrow. I'll decline it on your behalf." Her father said. "Really? Thanks, Dad." Leah said and then hung up the phone.
"So, Ms. Mendel was it. I wonder how Mr Mendel would feel if he knew his daughter caused him to lose the chance to cooperate with the Serpentines. Surely, he would feel guilty for having you as his daughter." Leah laughed. "This is my first and last warning to you. Approach Sean again, and I'll make sure that the entire Merry corporation gets wiped off from the face of the Earth. Do we have a deal?" Leah smiled. "Y... Yes, w... we have a d... d... deal." Emilia replied. "Good girl. Come on, Sean, let's go." Leah elbowed Sean. "I wonder what I saw in you then. You're nothing but a fool, leeching off the power your family holds. Without them, you're nothing." Sean turned his back, and the two stomped away, leaving Emilia defeated on the grass. "Why? Why is she part of the Serpentine?"
