I dodged, my exhaustion wiped out by adrenaline. It narrowly missed and scorched my clothes. I pulled my sword out of its sheath and swung at the wither. The health bar lost a small fraction and it fired a skull. I rolled out of the way and sliced again and again. Soon it was at the halfway mark and was immune for a few seconds. I hit until there were only a few millimeters left on the health bar. Suddenly a wither skeleton snuck up behind me and hit me with the sword. The wither effect was instantaneous and I fell to my knees swaying.

Out of the blue, I heard a familiar screech. Could it be? I opened an eye weakly and saw a fireball being shot at the wither. It died and Peterson murdered the wither skeleton. I got up shakily and hugged my son limitedly. What? Ghasts are very large.

"Son...you saved me," a tear escaped my eye.

You're my daddy! And besides, if you're dead, I'll never meet Ember! Peterson smiled again. I rubbed his head and limped to the portal, Peterson watching my back. As soon as I got there, I kissed him on the cheek softly.

"Love ya, bud," I murmured as I stepped into the portal. The world glowed purple and swirled around me and all was silent.

*TIME LAPSE*

*Ember's POV*
I cried in a corner of my room, afraid to sit because my bumper was throbbing. Only now did I have time to think about my dear father. "I miss Daddy..." I sobbed. Let's just say I healed my...slapmark with fire and fell asleep against the wall.

*Seto's POV*
I walked away from the door, letting Fern answer since it was none of my business. I opened the door to Ember's room and saw her sitting against the wall, eyes closed peacefully. I had a strange urge to go near her, so I fulfilled it and caressed her cheek gently. Her eyes snapped open. "What are you doing?" She growled.

I blushed bright red. "Um...leaving," I decided and ran out of the room, heart hammering. Shesawmeshesawmeshesawme! One side of my head panicked. Wow, thanks Captain Obvious, the other remarked dryly. I shook off the voices--no, I'm not crazy--and took a breath. I walked into the kitchen where Fern was talking to a rather strange looking guy who I could only guess was Ember's dad. He was a golden-yellow color and wore a hat--he somehow made a WITCH'S HAT look cool. His hair was scarlet and his eyes were intense orange. He smiled at me and I noticed his scorched clothes.

"Hello, sonny," he remarked.

"Um, hi, Mr....?"

"Romani. And you are?"

"Um, I'm Seto."

He murmured to Fern, "Is this Ember's boyfriend?"

I blushed slightly. "No, she just burned my house down accidentally..."

Of course, Romani then asked how this happened, so I told him the story. When we were through, he mumbled something unintelligible in Fern's ear. She nodded wordlessly. "Um, I guess I'll go; I don't want to cause you any trouble," I muttered and crossed over to the door.

"Woah woah woah! Seto, dear, you don't have a home!" Fern laid a hand on my shoulder.

"Um, I'll build one."

"You don't have food."

"Um, I'll kill some."

(Have you guys noticed he's still saying um at the beginning of his sentences addressed to Fern? X3 lol)
"Stop saying um, Seto."

"U--I mean okay."

"What I'm saying is you can live with us! We've got a guest bedroom--now it's yours!" Fern smiled widely.

"Wow...I don't know what to say! Thanks, Fern!" I grinned.

"It's over here, dear." Fern led me to a cozy bedroom. I had a simple red quilt with creamy off-white walls and a dark oak hardwood desk piled with books. "It's not much--"

"Not much?! I love it! Thank you so much!" I gushed. "No one has EVER been this kind to me!" I flopped on the bed. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to take a nap." And with that, I was promptly snoring.

*TIME LAPSE*

*Ember's POV*
When I felt Seto's soft hands gingerly stroke my cheek, I was tempted to lean into his touch. But instead I whipped my head up, taking my anger out on him. "What are you doing."

He flared fire engine red. "Um...leaving?" Seto rushed out of the room. I momentarily felt bad--he saved my life multiple times--but a little voice in my head raged, SOMEONE NEEDS TO PAY FOR ALL OF THIS EMBARRASSMENT!
I shook off the voice--no, I'm not crazy--and walked out of my room, drying my tears and regaining normality.

I peeked out of the hallway and saw my mother leading Seto to the guest bedroom. Wait, did she just say he can live with us?! I heard my mother close the door and I came into view.

"Mom, for the time being, is Seto staying here?" I asked.

"Yes, but Sorcery Academy starts tomorrow. He wont be here long," Mom replied casually.

I heard a banging noise and I stifled a scream. Was someone breaking in? Was someone dying? Holy crap what's happening!
