16 years later

I hopped out of bed and skipped into the kitchen. "Morning, sweetie," Fern sighed.

"Hiya Momma!" I grinned. My smile faltered as I saw the sad look on her face. "What's wrong?"

"Your father went to the Nether to collect supplies a few days ago..." Fern's eyes teared up. "He said he'd be back by now..." She sobbed into her hands. "What if he doesn't come back?!"

I hugged my mother passionately and said, "Don't worry...he will return. I mean, he's my dad anyways," I cracked a smile.

My mother sniffed and dried her tears. "I've been so selfish..." She muttered to herself. "Honey! I was thinking you could attend school soon and follow in your father's footsteps," Fern smiled.

"Cool! Where will I be going?"

"Sorcery Academy."

Seto's POV
I finished the applications for a new academy for young sorcerers and sorceresses with a sigh and walked back to my potions table. I'd been trying to combine potions without it resulting in a kaboom, but that obviously never worked...what's my life without an explosion every ten seconds? I tried mixing two and they bubbled in a sickly green color. In anticipation, I ducked and covered, but it never exploded. I lifted my head in relief, and, of course, it promptly exploded. Sigh.

To make my day even better, the potion had a metabolism similar to acid, so I ran to the sink, gritting my teeth, and washed it off. Hopefully this new teacher at Sorcery Academy would be better than me--pssh; like that's gonna happen--and immune to explosions because everything seems to explode these days. With a sigh, I sat at my table with my face buried in my hands. Oh, how lonely it is, living in a house all by yourself and explosions wracking the room every ten seconds and it's usually your fault...

I was kind of glad there would be dorms so I could make some friends and talk to people, even though I can't hold a conversation, people regard me as some format of a nerd, and I'm kind of awkward. Okay, REALLY awkward. Especially around girls.

I got up and scratched my head. Suddenly, I heard a yelp outside my door. Cautiously, I eased the door open and looked out the crack. There was an injured wolf sitting on my porch. I grabbed a bone, recklessly eager for a friend, and approached it. "Hey, little puppy," I murmured, shaking the bone. I looked at the dog's eyes. They seemed more intelligent than the standard wolf. Looking closer, I realized that this was a crafter."Dude. How did you get in a wolf body?" I scornfully stood up and brushed myself off.

"Actually..." A sound came from the wolf. It began to change into a person and I turned around, cheeks flaring. "I'm a girl...or as you would probably say it, a 'dudette'."

This sent me rocketing into my house. "Uh...knock when you're...y'know, decent?" I stammered. I heard an exaggerated sigh come from outside. She knocked rapidly.

I opened the door, shielding my eyes. "Clothes on?" I asked cautiously.

"I wouldn't have knocked if they weren't," she sighed again. I looked up. Bad idea. I was literally staring into a fire. The girl's dress was adorned with blue flames. It was long and flowing, with vibrant orange, yellow, and red fire trailing onto the wood.

I realized I was still blushing. "Uh...why did you...um...come here?" I coughed out.

"'Cuz I'm bored," she replied simply. I shuffled my feet, embarrassed. "Why are you embarrassed?" She asked.

"Well, why wouldn't I be?! I always make a fool of myself in front of everyone!" I yelled.

"Well, I'll forgive you. Everyone gets speechless in my beauty," she flipped her hair. I realized that, though what she said was most likely true, she was very arrogant.

"Huh, I guess you're right..." I smiled slyly at her. Just fuel the fire.

She laughed, and looked at me. "Of course I am. I'm always right."

"Is that so?" I shifted closer. Oh, it felt good to make a fool of someone else for once. "What's 2+2, then?"

"Easy. 4," she answered logically. My face spread out in a huge smile. I knew she'd say that.

"You're wrong, Perfect. The correct answer is...fish."
