I hate her.

Enid huffs, matching up the stairs with her hands balled up into a tight fist. She had just gotten done with her last period class, which was with Wednesday. So of course she had to make it her mission to completely humiliate Enid by telling her how she smelled like a wet dog and that she didn't want to sit with Enid.

Enid turns the corner, knowing she wasn't supposed to be in this hall, where all the boys dorms were. She looks for a specific dorm number, Ajax's.

Enid barges in, immediately seeing Ajax on his beanbag, playing a game on his tv. His head jerks around, his eyes softening when he spots Enid.

"Hey, Enid." He smiles, setting down his controller as she quickly stands up from his beanbag.

Enid doesn't answer, instead just staring at him with a red face, her jaw clenched. Ajax immediately sensed she was angry, and he knew it was most likely because of Wednesday.

Enid and Wednesday recently had a fight over something, and both of them were too stubborn to apologize first. So instead they just attacked each other whenever they got the chance. It's been going on for days.

"Let me guess, Wednes-" Ajax starts, but it cut off with Enid slamming the door and rushing to Ajax's bed.

"I hate her! I hate her so much!" Enid groans, plopping onto his bed as she rubs her temples in stress.

Ajax doesn't move, instead just staring down at her with a gentle
smile. He knew it was best not to speak now, Enid still has things to say.

"I hate everything about her! I could make a whole book about everything I hate about her!" Enid scowls, sitting up on the bed, her claws out.

"In fact, i'll do it right now!" She chuckles, though it was hollow.

"I hate how she always tracks mud into our dorm room whenever she was out bug burning with Eugene!"

Ajax nods gently, okay, that's reasonable.

"I hate how she always has something to say about my side of the room, like my stuff animals!"

Ajax nods again, well, Wednesday shouldn't be one to judge.

"I hate how she rambles on about her stupid murder cases in her favorite books."

Ajax raises an eyebrow, keeping an amused expression though. He was so sure he remembered Enid talking about how she loved when Wednesday rambled.

"I hate how she works on her novel none stop! I hate the sound of her type writer!"

Ajax's smile slowly fades away, but still keeping a silly face on.

Enid can't sleep without the sound of those same keys clacking.

"I hate how shes actually kind for a second and then decides to be a jerk!"

Ajax stood, his hands in his pocket as he sighs through his nose, feeling awkward.

"I hate how she smiles, not like she even does. In fact i hate how emotionless she is!"

Enid loves her smile, she was so fond of her dimples.

"I hate the little freckles on her face, it doesn't even suit her!"

Enid loved her freckles. Whenever she got close to Wednesdays face she would count them.

"I hate how formal she is, like gosh,
it's not the 90s anymore!"

Enid actually admired Wednesday for how smart she was, sometimes she'd use words in a sentence even Enid didn't know what they meant.

"I hate how bold she is."

Enid loved it, how Wednesday was never sacred of anything. There was one time where Wednesday almost fought a 6ft man for Enid.

Enid grins slightly at the memory, but it quickly disappears.

"I hate her long black hair."

Enid once brushed Wednesdays hair, the night after the crack stone incident. Wednesday was too tired to take her braids out, or scold Enid for even asking her to brush her hair.

"I hate her." Enid finally finishes, but she doesn't seem as angry.

She stares at the ceiling, her expression soft now. Enid snapped out of reality, sitting up to look at Ajax, and she couldn't mistake the sadness in his eyes.

She definitely couldn't miss the tears in his eyes either.

"You love her don't you?"

"What?"

"You love her."

"What are you talking about? I absolutely do not."

"I've never seen anyone smile that much when they're talking about how much they hate their friend."

"I wasn't smiling."

"Enid, you like me bu-"

"I do, i swear i do, i don't like her i like-"

"But you love her."

Enid doesn't answer, eyes swelling with tears. She knew, deep down, he was right.

"I do."
