I'M ALIVE... Yet.

_______________

Waking up, the first thing that Hiccup did was wipe her face with the sheets, warm and cozy sheets, which encouraged her to go back to sleep, but in the meantime, the first sun's rays refrained her from it. Thus, she turned on her back and gaped at the empty hole in her roof, which she had the honor of calling a window.

Through it, she caught a glimpse of orange, pink-like sky, a few white, clouds, wandering around it, and a V-formation of wild Death Nadders, that probably traveled from islands. Inhaling the fresh, lukewarm air, that got into the room from the outside, she moved to her side, beaming at what she witnessed.

Laying on his back, Toothless slept next to her, having one arm on his stomach, and the other trashed next to his side, awkwardly. I could swear that we cuddled to sleep, she recalled, puzzled by the fact that, in contrast to being embraced by him like every other morning, she woke up without the warmth of his body around hers.

Even so, accepting the way of things, she leaned her chin on the arm supported by her pillow, and stared at him, out of habit and simple willingness. The truth was, from time to time, Hiccup couldn't help herself, but wonder, how she was in the position, in which she was, with wonderful friends, and of course, a loving partner.

Often, more than a year ago, Hiccup imagined where she would end up in the future, with whom would she end up, and neither of her guesses was even close to reality. Of course, back then, she didn't even think about the possibility of the existence of someone like her, a half-human half-demon-like creature she considered a dragon, and also, she didn't believe in other fate rather than death by the hand of beloved her people, but it didn't stop her from being fascinated.

The most realistic, the worst scenario, was obviously an arranged marriage, forced upon her as an alliance creation, with someone caliber of Dagur. Fortunately, instead of seeing this ginger-like hair of behatted her man every morning, she was glad those were soft, raven waves, which even at that moment, she curled around her finger, playfully.

Another one was if she would've been allowed to get married by choice, by love, although, she still would have never thought that she would have fallen in love with someone like Toothless. What she was expecting was an intelligent, smart man, by whom she wouldn't have felt weak, whose strength she wouldn't have been afraid of, like Fishlegs, for instance.

For this reason, Toothless was the last person she could've ever anticipated, with the strength and size twice as she was, but even so, he was also the one that had won her heart. Certainly, he did make her feel scared in the past, and he did make her feel vulnerable, fragile, breakable under his touch, but in the difference to the other men that were the reason for her requirements, he had changed for her.

That thoughtful, incredible man, while being stronger than her, became someone that she felt the most protected by, someone that encouraged her to be the best version of herself and someone by whom she felt strong, worthwhile, and useful. To this day, she cannot believe how lucky she is to share a mutual love with him.

These remarks were the reason why she must've crawled underneath the sheets that had covered him and lay on top of his chest, to nestle against him, quietly. Feeling his heartbeat by hers, his large hand which she moved from his stomach to her back, and the warmth of his body, she deemed that she was in the best spot in the world.

Later on, she gazed at his face, and hence, detected the dark bags underneath closed eyes, because of which, she actually felt ashamed of her doings. It seemed that Toothless's insomnia, which appeared because of his nature of being the creature of the night, only increased, resulting in Hiccup's concern.
