The backlash

Hiccup's head was about to burst out, as the world around her became blurry, at the same time, unable to be ignored, due to it being in constant spin, as her hearing became faint, at the same time, too loud, and as her body became numb, at the same time, sensitive toward even the slightest motions.

The longer moment passed since the ship shook for the first time, and as the time increased, the pumped-up emotions, as well as the impatient nature didn't let Hiccup for the rest she wished and needed so much. Somewhere to her side, while she curled herself in between the wet wood of the wall and the ground, seeable was Astrid, who made an effort to catch as much attention as possible at herself, shouting and yanking the metal bars, hard.

In the meantime, Hiccup just tried to not go mad, to loosen herself, and breathe, but the longer the wait, the harder it was getting to do, to the point that even her breathing became shallow and uncontrollable. Finally, as a method of calming herself, Hiccup closed her eyes shut, as well as hugged herself tightly, not daring to change positions until something, having any value to her, happens.

Doing that, she found herself in a state, in which for a mere moment, she just forgot where she was, how she was feeling, and what was happening, as the only thing that mattered was her own thoughts and her own breathing. In the distance, she could hear some footsteps, screaming, and the impact of metal against the metal, but it didn't matter - what mattered now, was the rest, the relaxation, the sleep, the peace.

Imagination, or maybe the lack of blood inside her brain, started working wonders, and she, at some point, felt safe as well as secure, as if everything was about to be alright, and as if nobody could've hurt her, again. The slumber was about to swallow her at that moment, the dreamland was about to absorb her, force her into the claws of, currently, soothing, comforting death, but before it could reach her, she was dragged back to reality, within just one word.

"Hiccup."

The sound of it, or rather the sound of a voice that had said it, was for her entire body, for her unmanageable vitals, a snapping point, by which these became, at least, a little more controllable. Forcing herself to finally open her eyes, the first thing she glimpsed was a chest as well as her cheek, which was pressed into it, tightly, because of which, she was able to sense its owner's fast, rapid, and panicked heartbeat.

"Toothless," she mumbled, grasping lightly the material of his shirt, as to ensure herself he was real. "Ye're here."

"I'm here," he whispered, before placing a light kiss on her temple, "and I'm not going anywhere."

As he declared that, Hiccup couldn't help herself, but beam, as brightly as her weak muscles let her for, while her eyes flooded, after which, she felt how his arms tensed around her, bringing her into a warm, cozy embrace. Eventually, she sensed how Toothless relied his chin on top of her head, without lightening any hold that he had on her, and how he spoke about the themes she didn't understand, although, at the same time, didn't bother herself to understand.

Now, what mattered was that he was here, that she was with him, that whatever more was about to happen, was about to happen with him by her side, as that was supposed to be, as that should be, as that must be. Through that, at one point, she was curled onto the ground, against her love's warm body and heart, and at the other, without even realizing it, she was lifted, as he took her into the bridal hold as well as ran in unknown her direction.

Feeling how her stomach brushed the side of her throat, at such rapid movements, she asked, "Toothless, where are we goin'?" the loudest she could at the moment, which was merely a whisper.

"For the antidote for you, sunshine," he explained, not even glancing down at her, focusing on the path before himself. "Don't worry, just relax, okay?"
