Fenrir's Pov.
He is the father of Sansa?! My Sansa?! The Sansa that died in my arms as she was trying to give birth to our son!
"Then why was she all alone wandering in Northumbria?" I groan out making Athelstan translate it for the king as he lets a look of sadness grow on his face. "My daughter had a free spirit, like you I have heard. But a match needed to be made for a alliance, the day I told her is the day she left only for me to never see her again." He speaks making me shake my head with a scoff.
"How is she? Is she here with you?" He asks making me look at Athelstan with a frown, he did not tell him? "Athelstan told me she was close with you, I've prayed many nights that my daughter would one day return." He continues making me lick my lips before looking at him.
"She is dead." I softly say making him close his eyes as he leans his hand on the table. He may be a king who slaughtered half of our men, but he is still a father who just heard he has lost a child. "Why did you not tell me Athelstan?" He says in disbelief as he opens his eyes again making me speak before Athelstan can.
"Maybe because it was not his story to tell." I groan out as one of my hands move to my side as I close my eyes for a second while trying to stand up straight. "Do you know how she died, Fenrir?" He asks me making me nod.
"She died when she was trying to give birth." I softly say with a shake of my head making his eyes widen even more. "She was with child?" He asks making me nod. "Was it forced on her?" He continues making me shake my head.
"No she uhm loved him, and was happy to carry his son the god's just did not let them live. Their son never took his first breath and she died in the arms of the man she loved." I softly say as I wrap my arm around Athelstan's shoulders again. "Your people will be arriving soon, rest and I hope you can soon tell me more about my daughter's time with your people." He says making me give him a hesitant nod before I let Athelstan drag me away again.
Lagertha's Pov.
Walking into this stone hall while people sit on a large table we soon step up the few stone steps making them stand up. Athelstan said that Fenrir and Rollo are still alive but greatly wounded, I knew the god's did not take him yet, and now hopefully soon he can come home with me to our sons. As the king speaks a little in our language we took a seat before Athelstan speaks as he stands up.
"King Ecbert desires me to set before you, outline possible terms of a treaty. He is completely sincere in his wish for peace and cooperation, and believes that Ragnar Lothbrok shares his wish. The King will agree to pay you monies and/or treasures to prevent any further depredations of his territories. More importantly, he is prepared to offer 5,000 acres of good land, for farming, in peace. Finally, may I present to you Princess Kwenthrith from the kingdom of Mercia. King Ecbert and the Princess are willing to pay any of your warriors a fat fee for fighting for her." Athelstan speaks and it is a good offer, the lands would help us feed our people if they are able to settle here. But there is one thing that is also important.
"And what of my brothers?" Ragnar speaks making the king lean forward in his chair before Athelstan speaks again. "The King will agree to release Rollo upon your acceptance of his offer, and upon the safe return of King Aelle." He speaks making Ragnar quickly speak. "I accept the offer."
"And what of Fenrir, or have you forgotten him." I state as I look in the direction of Ragnar briefly before turning to Athelstan. "Fenrir will stay here until you have all returned, he will lead the mercenaries for Princes Kwenthrith when he is healed." He speaks making me raise my brow. Uhm no?
