Once Peter 2's finished Norman Osborn's cure, he's quick to tug on Lily's shirt sleeve. She turns to him questioningly, although she resists a little when he pulls her sleeve up. "Lils, come here. I need to take a blood sample to make your cure."
Without any hesitation, Lily pulls her sleeve back down. "No."
"No? Why not?"
"Because if I'm normal then how am I going to fight?"
"Easy," Peter 2 announces strongly. "You're not fighting."
"Yes, I am!"
"It's going to take over you, Lils! Same way it did for your dad... same as Harry..."
For a moment, hopelessness washes over his face. It's enough for Lily's heart to soften, but only enough for her to take his hand in hers. "I'm not them," she reminds him softly. "I can control it. I have been for the last few hours. Besides, remember what I said. This one is different, okay? We have to have faith in that, even if it's just for a little bit."
"And what if it goes wrong? What if you can't control it?"
Something unidentifiable flickers into Lily's smile. "Trust my dad. He was a good scientist, at least. Plus, he doesn't know that his serum was different." Even then, the doubt that's on his face is enough for her to add, "The moment I struggle, I'll tell you. Promise."
Peter 2's grip on her hands tighten for a moment, unable to help the protective surge in him from wanting to keep her out of the danger. "I don't like this, Lils."
"Me neither. But I know that we'll be fine now we're together. And if you think about it from a scientific perspective, I'm doing a field test to see if the original performance enhancer worked. Besides, I'm not 100% sure about how magic works, but if I got injected in this world then shouldn't I technically be back to normal when we go back?"
"I don't think it works like that."
Lily lets the information settle in her mind, but she looks more intrigued than anything else. "Huh. Interesting. I guess you'll have a buddy to help Spider-Man fight crime."
"Lily."
"I should start coming up with a superhero name."
"I've been in the exact same position," Maddy tells them, sliding her seat a little closer with a grin before tossing something. As if it's a reflex, Lily catches it, only for her eyes to widen. "Woah. I guess it's working already. Anyway, there."
Lily glances at the object in her hand, still in awe, before realising it's a spray paint can. "What's this?"
"Green. For the hoverboard." Madison tilts her head towards the briefcase on the table.
"...What about it?"
"You're Green Goblin now. You're gonna need the hoverboard. Might as well customise it."
