Battles of Interest

First year (Part 1)

First year for Aurora Vance, she didn't know much of what was going on, or where she was exactly going as she's a muggleborn but soon enough, she will learn.
She was trying to board the train, Regulus had just got on the train before her, seeing her struggling.
He offered his hand to her with a bag in his other hand. "Do you need help?" Regulus wasn't quite the sweetest of people, but didn't mean he wasn't going to still offer.

"Oh, yes I do" Aurora said, Regulus too her bag, helping her up into the train.
Regulus, of course didn't know she isn't the same blood status as he is, that didn't matter...now.
Regulus was trying to hide a small smile on his face.
"Thank you" Aurora said, she took her bag back from him. "I'm Aurora, Aurora Vance, it's a pleasure to meet you" holding her hand out to shake his.
Regulus, of course shook her hand to be polite.  "Regulus Black" he said

As Regulus began to walk away to sit in his own carriage, he turned seeing Aurora heading in the opposite way.
"Aurora, do you want to come with me?" He asked.
Aurora's head nearly snapped off at the speed she turned it with, she looked at him, based on the last name and the people telling her to stay away when she was getting her books for school...she knew it was risk but he was the only one who actually was nice to her to begin with.
"Sure" Aurora said, walking to follow him, which the smile Regulus had been trying to hide began to be bigger than it was before.

These two did end up sitting together, across from one another.
There was two other people in the carriage, this being his older cousin, Narcissa who's in her 6th year, along with another wizard.
Aurora felt somewhat uncomfortable due to the blood status' of the people around her, as a muggleborn that's understandable but she doesn't hold that against them.

So to say the train ride was long would be an understatement...
Now that they're there, getting in the castle.. it's time for the sorting hat.
The other, the older hogwarts students are already at their places, in their houses whilst waiting for the first year's.
As the first year's were getting into the great hall, properly, going by alphabetical order by last names, Regulus had gotten to the sorting hat and before the hat even fully rested on his head.
"SLYTHERIN!" The hat said, which a few people in the room had a shocked look on their faces, mainly Sirius as that's because that's his little brother.
"Padfoot, Are you alright?" Remus asked.
"No, Moony...of course not, my brother is in Slytherin, our parents are going to get to him, soon enough" Sirius said as he watched Regulus go and sit down, this being Sirius and his friends second year.

After all other first year students went, it was time for Aurora to be sorted.
The hat took a few moments, debating which house she would suit better Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.
"You have a lot of cleverness and great creativity..Ravenclaw? No....no you have a lot of loyalty, Patience and you're Dedicated...YOU'RE A HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat said,  Hufflepuff house cheered, as Aurora looked over to Slytherin table as she headed over to the Hufflepuff, she could see Regulus' look, it almost looked hurt.
As she did, she heard people whispering around her that she's a muggleborn which made Regulus' eyes shift from hurt to worry in a split second. That's how he found out.
